Hudsy Wudsy Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I don't know if this is of any interest to you gents, but I just came across it while browsing Craigslist for Iowa. It looks nice, but I can't speak to the price https://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/d/buick-century-door/6210127278.html Ad Copy: 1939 Buick Century 4 Door, straight eight motor, factory dual carbs, split manifold, nice interior. This is a barn find out of Kansas. Nice car. $13,500 or best offer. Call Kelley - ph. show contact info 1
billorn Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I don't believe they had "factory" dual carbs in 1939. Looks like a retrofit and maybe a later engine judging by the color. Still not a bad price for a big, fast car like that.
Hudsy Wudsy Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Yeah, I knew that the dual carb set up was from a couple of years later, but I being a Buick set up, I assume that it might something of an asset to some. Edited July 25, 2017 by Hudsy Wudsy (see edit history)
suchan Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 If you can live with the upholstery, asking price is an OK starting point. Dual carbs is cool as long as they, and the motor generally, work well.
billorn Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Well technically they ARE factory dual carbs. Why would you cheat yourself out of a car you want just because the seller doesnt know his facts. YOU DO. USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. Why walk away thinking your punishing the seller? 1 1
