GraniteBayBob Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Restoring windshield on my '27 Chrysler. All existing rubber is crystallized and must be replaced. Need sides and bottom rubber. Windshield was frozen in place and had to chisel out all old rubber. Want to enable the crank up function of windshield. The mechanical part is in good shape. The top and side metal frames are attached with setting tape. Appears side frames slides up and down within side rubber channels. Are the items on Bob's Automobilia item ss261 and ws261 on page 92, the correct rubber channels for my car? If not where can I fine the correct rubber channels? Thank you. Side rubber. Spinneyhill Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I think you are more likely to get the right ones from Steele Rubber than Bob's (who does Buick stuff). But then the Buick rubber may be the same... Is it sold by specific length and does it match?
GraniteBayBob Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Thanks Spinneyhill, I did order from Steele Rubber although the Buick uses the same Steele item number. The difference is only the cost, which is not a small item, about $40.00. Also Steele has no free shipping or promo codes available. That's life.
Spinneyhill Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Xclnt. The hard part with these up-down windscreens is to keep water out at the bottom corners. Mine (1930 Dodge 8) leaks but maybe with new rubbers it would be better.
GraniteBayBob Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Upon removing bottom rubber noticed the corners were heavily covered with some kind of sealant an inch in each direction from corner.
