It's a lot of money for something that isn't a Hudson any more.

It depends. If you like what the owner has done and just want to finish it to yor tastes, it's a good deal. If you want to restore to original, then it's decidedly not.

It's a 5,000 Hudson rat rod missing alot of pieces of trim.  The internet is loaded with 4 door rat rods just like this.  Hudson and others.  Hudson sedans in this era are far from rare, though many sellers would like you to believe they are.

I would keep looking if you are looking for value.

With any modifications even on cars that look pretty well done,  I would always suspect build quality.  Even if the guy bought all new high end parts it doesn't mean he knew how to assemble them so that they properly perform.

Downgraded from a straight eight to a V-8, rube goldberg gas tank stuck in the trunk, goobered-up suspension, so take off a thousand for each. I bet it would sell as-is in Cuba, though.

I think Ben and Suchan have nailed it. Are you looking for a 4 door 'Sled ? Starting to see this as the one ? Go look at it very closely. It's not far away. Take at least one experienced hotrodder with you. Don't worry about the gas tank. I doubt the builder intended it to be more than temporary. P.S.  : the original steering wheel and instrument panel look pretty good. Hey ! Who knows ? Rust free , but without intense California sun damage ? Check it out and let us know.  - CC

The 50 -52 Hudson's bring great money. Waiting for a 4 door 52 hornet

I see alot of them for sale but I rarely seem to see many sell except the bottom of the barrel $3000 cars.   I seem to remember a pretty clean tudor on ebay not long ago that went through and didn't sell for around 6,000 as either the opening with no reserve or a buy it now.

I know parts for them are pretty cheap,  especially die cast chrome.  Wish the same could be said for the 1947 Models.  HEadlight bezels are almost non existent and the driver quality ones look like they have been on the Andrea Doria since it sank.  I have a stack in the corner to prove it.

It saddens me to think that this car, if it's been a southern California car all of it's life, should end up a rat rod. As most of you know, these wonderful unibody cars rust from the inside out. If I came across a southern Cal body up here in MN I'd treasure it forever. Most of our Hudsons ended their lives long ago with their rear leaf springs poking up through what was left of their trunk floors.
