gregchrysler Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Hello again --The power piston in the m6 tranny doesn't move after 15 to 20 mph and the tranny oil is hitting the torque converter and spraying all over the place. Could it be a stuck solenoid? help they want 1500 dollars just to look at it
Rusty_OToole Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 How fast are you losing oil? That is the big problem. Fluid Drive unit and transmission are completely separate with separate oil supplies. Your picture shows an oily Fluid Drive unit, probably it has a bad seal. Seals can be replaced although I hear they are getting hard to find. By power piston I take it the trans is not shifting. Could be low oil, or wiring messed up and controls not working right. Could even be dirty contacts in the governor. Too bad your location is such a big secret. If we knew where you were maybe someone could recommend a mechanic.
gregchrysler Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 Thanks Rusty I live in Rhode Island near Providence If the solenoid is always on would that cause power piston not to move? I have the interruptor out so I can see movement of Power Piston but I just see the spring on piston and no movement, even at 20 mph. Car is up on jacks so rear tires free to spin-reverse and first and second work but no upshifting. The oil leaks out at a faucet left on and trickling out and dripping but the converter sprays it all over the place so It must be dripping on tp converter somewhere
gregchrysler Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 I would like to get a good mechanic to take a look if u know one
gregchrysler Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 governor is clean didn' t file silver contacts rechecking wiring now
Rusty_OToole Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Don't know anyone in Rhode Island, maybe someone will chime in. The big problem is the Fluid Drive seal. You need to get a repair manual with a schematic and figure out how the trans shifts. The Imperial club is kind enough to post a lot of factory info online. Here is one, there are others. http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/012A/cover.htm
gregchrysler Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Thanks Rusty I've learned a lot about the governor and the hydraulic system
