1936Dodge Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Finally home my 1936 Dodge LE 31 . Super nice unmolested 1 1/2 ton Dodge pickup. I have never seen another 1 1/2 with the pickup bed. Runs and drives great not even excessive steering play. I am really happy with this one . The first two pictures are where I found it. Brought this thing form Covelo CA to Newnan GA. 2
Frantz Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 I love it! Old commercial stuff is rare, and make a great vehicle for the dollar! Congrats.
wldavis Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Thanks for the photos. Looks like a very nice truck.
auburnseeker Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Drive it just like it is. Once you start using it, you won't want to restore it for fear of making it too pretty to use. That's the one curse of my HUdson. The outside is pretty nice but the bed is really nice. The chevy I had was much like your find and I used it every day it was dry, hauled everything from a slide for the kids, the Christmas tree, to gas cans and cement blocks. Alot of parts from my shop got moved here as well when I was in the process of cleaning it out. Can't beat an old truck as a nice useful cross collectable.
Hudsy Wudsy Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Truly a fortunate find. Old workhorses like this one were used hard and rarely survived, especially as intact as this one appears. Just out of curiosity, how long is the box?
1936Dodge Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 This is a 162 inch wheel base. That box is 9 feet long. They made 1423, 162" wheel base LE 31 trucks, this is build # 1359. The question is how many had pickup beds and of those ,how many are left. I took it for about a 50 mile drive this evening and all I can say is wow. I need a sticky note that says Double clutch . 1
This Ole' Coupe Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Wow! Covelo! I use to live there; graduated 1970 from high school! I wish I had the old dodge truck my dad had and use to park on the hill in order to pop the clutch to get it started for work each morning to the saw mill. That's amazing to drive it from Covelo to Ga! Or I guess u hauled it didn't ya? Silly me..... Terri Edited June 20, 2017 by This Ole' Coupe (see edit history)
