I'm into my second hour tracing down this tachometer application. Best I come up with is it's obsolete.

Made by AC Spark plug division of GMC , part number 6412953 on tach and on box

5000 rpm black and white gauge.

I think it's truck , but google runs me in circles.

Any clues on where to search?

Thanks

With a 5000 rpm limit, it would most likely be for a diesel. Looks generic enough to have many applications besides automotive such as industrial, etc.

Thanks for the reply , I agree with all you said. I'm trying to learn how to get this info on google. I know it's out there,

I just don't know the right phrase or procedure.

It's a GM part number , I'm guessing it would be under accessory in a GM parts book , but which one?

I'm guessing it's GM 6cylinder truck ?

Nice NOS piece somebody wants somewhere.

Any tips on how to find out the application ?

Trying to determine if it's 6 or 8 cylinder and if it needs a sender.

Every place I go that has the part number only states it's obsolete.

Looks like the number sequence is from 70'-80's era , but that may be a supersession number.

I've tired 3 search engines , probably not putting in the right key words.

Maybe someone has a GM parts book ?

Go to http://t.gmpartswiki.com/query

When you enter your part number it shows a number change  to 6469980, which looks up to 71-73 medium duty truck

Thanks John. I was there several times , didn't understand how it worked. I'll try hunting that down to find out if it's 6 or 8 cyl and if it needs a sender.

The info is out there , I just don't have the skills to find it ----yet.
