Just thought I would pass this warning on. I purchased over $500 from Pat Walsh Restorations of Wakefield Mass. and after almost six months have not received the ordered parts.

Did this issue get resolved?

I met Pat Walsh at Carlisle and he said he could reproduce my truck brake lever boot, so I mailed him my original and the trim ring in 2017.  He told me this whole deal was to take a month or two, which I agreed to.

After MANY emails he finally told me in 2018 that my piece was done and he quoted me a price plus shipping.  I sent him a check in September 2018 and after a LONG wait and more followup inquires he sent me a part in December that was nothing like my part.  After a LONG wait again and many more unanswered emails and unanswered phone calls to a full voice mail box he finally responded in January of 2019 and said his rubber guy messed up and that upon receiving his wrong part back he would refund my money.  He's got his wrong part back in late January 2019 and still I have nothing...no returned original parts and no refund of my money and not responding to emails again with any status or updates.

The sad part is a friend had done business with him years ago and had a good experience.  As much as I want my money back, I'm more mad about loosing my original parts...

Does anyone know Pat Walsh?  Is he still alive?  I get no phone message/email responses from him.

Is he still a vendor at Carlisle?

Thanks,

File a police report with whatever the community is

That's my big smile for the day. I am pretty casual about money on hobby stuff and have sold a lot on Ebay over the years. I once bought a large storage unit full of collectible license plates, about 5,000 of them, for $400. They sold very well. Toward the end a guy from some "parish" in Louisiana bought about $300 worth. To expedite things I just sent them out as I have done with many things. He never paid.

So I called the police station in his town, told them I didn't want to file anything official, and asked if they could just lean on the guy with a reminder for me. I figured they knew him like around here and would just tell him in the bar. Well, that officer, with his slow southern drawl, thought I was about the stupidest critter he ever heard of. I bet he was laughing when he told his wife at supper that nite. "I got this call from a Yankee in New York......"

So I told MY wife at supper, about the sale and the cop. No sympathy there, either. She said "You made a lot of money on all those plates didn't you?" Not only that, earlier, my daughter wanted money to join the sorority at snob school. I told her I had some money from selling old license plates, but that didn't seem appropriate for a high class sorority. She took it without hesitation.

Some people don't have these kind of experiences. Its amazing I have enough cash to buy coffee for my friend EVERYTIME I go to the diner in town.

Yes, I used the USPS to return the incorrect part as requested by Pat and I have a tracking number that shows it was delivered Jan 29, 2019.  I have not heard anything from him since returning the part, it's like he fell off the map, but his phone is still taking messages.

Is there a published vendor list available for Spring Carlisle...at one time he was a vendor there...wonder if he still is???

Then it could be considered mail fraud and that is a federal offense. There is such a thing as the US Postal Police and that is their job. I would suggest contacting the local postal police in your area and they will get the ball rolling. Twenty years ago I had a similar situation about 3 weeks after I contacted the US Postal Police the part arrived after about 6 months of excuses. Worth a try. Good Luck

Update,

I randomly received a box in the mail and low and behold I got my original parts back...YEAH!  Strange there was no note or refunded money, just the parts...

My FINAL update...I got a full refund check in the mail on Friday Aug 16, 2019, so my dealings with Pat Walsh are 100% done (two years later).  I can't tell you how many phone and email messages I left him,  but I guess they paid off.

He did write a cryptic note with the check that said said "he had been in a crash in 2017".

My warning to others would be to only do business with him if it's a "in person, cash and carry" deal.

Bernie, was the Louisiana guy located in Shreveport?

Caddo Parish?

Bossier Parish?

How long ago was that?
