Dr Morbius 2 Posted June 4, 2017 (edited) Hi, looking for a Autolite 6 volt regulator VRB-4012A for a 1939 Super-8 Packard. Anyone? Steve Edited August 24, 2017 by twinsixsteve wrong number (see edit history)
wldavis 58 Posted June 17, 2017 Steve, I searched a bit but couldn't find anything. Chrysler (incl. Imperial, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth) used Autolite electrical parts. You might want to contact AMS Obsolete and/or Andy Berbaum and see if either can give you leads to your search. Both companies have websites. I would either email or call them. Dave Henderson 183 Posted June 17, 2017 (edited) The A.E.A. Universal Catalog of Original Equipment Service Parts, 1945 edition, makes no reference to a VRB-4002-A. It lists regulator VRB-4012A-1 for the '39 Packard Super 8, but goes on to say "Use VRP-4002B", apparently meaning that unit was not available then. The 1947 "Original Auto-Lite Service parts Catalog" is in agreement, except instead of specifying the regulator for "Packard Super 8", it just says "Packard". wldavis 58 Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) Steve, If you think the VRB-4012A-1 will work on your car as per Dave's post, there is one listed on eBay now. Edited June 19, 2017 by wldavis correct word placement. (see edit history)
Dr Morbius 2 Posted June 26, 2017 (edited) Thank you for all your replies everyone, and it's supposed to be VRB-4012A, NOT VRB-4002A. It was a typo where I got the info from. So as I see from the info supplied, VRB-4012A (the original) can be interchanged with VRP-4002B and/or VRR-4005A? And I would have no problems matching these to my generator? Oh and Bill - I just missed bidding on the ebay VRB-4012A. Durn! Steve Edited June 26, 2017 by twinsixsteve (see edit history)
