If memory serves that was the exact hood ornament on the last '48 Chevy coupe that I owned. A "Style-master"(?) I believe.

Mark,  I believe the first image is  what you had on your 48 coupe . It is the standard 'production' hood ornament for 47 & 48.  The hood ornament on the right is the production 1940.
