I hope this isn't too far off for this forum. One of my sisters wrote this. It describes my father to a T. I thought some of you that know my situation might like to see it:

Every old car
Is a time machine

If you don't believe me
Sit behind the wheel
Of a tourquoise  and cream
'57 Ford Bel Aire
If you can find one.

My father refused to love
A Beetle or a Mercedes
He grew up during
World War Two
In Detroit.

He drove Fords religiously

but collected Vetts
For their worth.

He hung up his hats
One by one
And left my sister
To figure out keys
 and dusty bumpers.

This poem makes me wish my dad knew about cars. He grew up in Manhattan, so he hardly ever drove! Good stuff, though. really brings more meaning, personality and incentive to these cars.

Well Turismo, someday you may have a son or daughter that you can share your interest in cars with.

My my father collects trucker hats. He has many and they are hanging all along the walls of his office at the garage. I'd say 100+ of them. The line about hanging up his hats is haunting to me.

And as as far as keys go, he has a ton and they have been very hard for me to keep track of. Lol

Speaking of hats, when I had my shop I would hang my hats on a wall. I seem to always have to many as I am usually wearing a ball cap.

I got comments about them from customers and after not so long they started coming to me by others.

I am sure that were over a thousand when I finally decided to take them all down after twenty or so years.

By the way, there is no market for a hat collection.

I had a few that had some meaning, I guess nobody except UPS employees are supposed to have their brown hats. But my driver hung one up there.

I had a guy tell me that I had an illegal NASA hat. He told me it was part of some secret identification.

They all went to Goodwill and I suspect the garbage after that.
