I found this stamped peice in the trunk of my 39 Pontiac Business Coupe. Anyone know what it might be?

I don't know but you should put it away carefully where you will be able to find it again. Sooner or later you will need it.

The drilled holes look like they might have covered a pair of radio speakers.

It may not even be for the car but if you throw it out sure as hell you will need it. Best to put it away, sooner or later you will see where it goes. I have had this experience many times when working on an old car. That weird hunk of steel or rubber that couldn't possibly be for your car, turns out to be some irreplaceable part if you throw it away.
