Guest loupet Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Hello out there, hope all are doing well. Let me start by saying my Reatta was running fine up until yesterday. I took it for a little ride around the neighborhood. I parked it still running and, it stalled. Try starting it but, to no avail. Turns over but, not starting. I pulled a plug and noticed no spark. I have already replaced the ignition module, coil pack, wires, plugs, and crank position sensor. Note that the module and coil pack are aftermarket. I also noticed that the module connector wires are right on top of the radiator hose and, when I replaced the old module there was a sticky residue all over the connector wires.(the old module was melted under the coil pack) The new module is all intact. So, I don`t know if I should replace the module again to see if the car will start? or being that the old module was melted and, try to figure out what caused the old module to melt. I`m stumped here and, don`t know what to do next.
89RedDarkGrey Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) Magnavox ICM usually just fail from a poor design- not a real "cause" to be worried about. Get a can of THIS and clean the connector. Replace the entire ignition setup with a quality unit- as I took the time to explain in the other thread. Guest loupet Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Ok. Thanks again 89RDG. I have read your other thread.
Don B. Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) Check the crank sensor for damage. If you don't see 3 separate rises on it, replace it. crank sens.bmp Edited May 2, 2017 by Don B. Added attachment (see edit history)
