Crankshaft machining

Recommended Posts

So my ace mechanic mic'd the crankshaft and it looks like it has been machined before.  We suspected as much because some of the parts were not put back in the original order.

Hopefully it wasn't offset ground to increase stroke so you won't need custom rods or pistons.  If they didn't remove the oil slinger in the rear, do so and get a Ford seal so it won't leak going up steep hills.

If Your machinist mic'd it he should know if everything is within tolerance . If not regrind it to the next undersized.  Usually leaks at the rear main are caused from a worn rear  main journal. I always have my crank grinder to leave that rear journal on the full side of the specs.  Never a leak.
