PWB Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) I finally mustered the courage to install headrests on my seats. They never had them. I post this because these kits do not come with instructions. Doing my homework for preparation I've found grumblings about the kit in Chevy forums. After seeing an original headed seat back apart - I got confidence. I have install pics if anyone wants 'em. Complete success. And just like OEM. Here are before and after shots: Edited April 5, 2017 by PWB (see edit history) 2
Seafoam65 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 That looks very nice. Are those vinyl over foam like originals are are they molded urethane?
PWB Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Thanks. Its not a stitched vinyl. I didn't think '66/'67 was wrapped vinyl upholstery based on what I've seen in others. I know other years were upholstered. Heres an original '66 with a "molded" cap: Edited April 5, 2017 by PWB (see edit history) 1
JZRIV Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 They look great Paul. Now if someone rear ends you, you won't get whiplash. I installed a set of these a bunch of years ago. I felt they were a very good reproduction. You have to look close to confirm they aren't originals. They weren't vinyl covered but it was hard to tell. The seam/piping around the perimeter is the easiest way to tell repro or not. The new ones are a molded-in seam (cosmetic only) to simulate the vinyl piping.
lrlforfun Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 OK Paul: My chiropractor would also be pleased! Mitch
