Hubert_25-25
I have 3 apron scuff plates that came with my Buick "Standard". I bought one from someone else. The 3 are .100 thick, and the other is .125 thick. The thicker one also seems to have an ever so subtle more curve to it. It is the one on the top of the stack. Like everything Master and Standard, I think the odd one is a Master scuff plate. Does anyone have a Standard Apron scuff plate that they would be willing to sell or trade for a Master scuff plate. They have an identical pattern. Any comments on how you would suggest these be cleaned up and buffed to what level would also be appreciated. Thank you, Hugh
Terry Wiegand
Hugh, since these are cast aluminum, they can be polished out rather easily. The only thing with this is that once you get them polished out you will have to keep them waxed regularly to keep the oxidation from setting in. Doesn't the guys down in Australia reproduce these? It seems like I remember seeing these from them in polished stainless. Terry Wiegand South Hutchinson, Kansas
Hubert_25-25
Terry, These were punched out of an aluminum sheet. You can see the stress marks from the punch on the back side. Maybe that is why these lasted, because they were not a pot metal casting. The Australian ones are $160 each, and one stainless plate won't match the aluminum ones. I could polish .025 off with a lot of elbow grease and few weekends. The thick one is the one with the scratches that I need to remove anyway, so that is an option. jbbuick22
Hugh, I have a few of these but I will have to check if they look like yours. What is the length and height? John 22-6-55 Sport touring

jbbuick22
Hugh, I have 3 that match the ones on the bottom. I need 2 for my22-55, they are 4" tall and 11 1/2 wide and are made of brass, I think they were nickle plated at one time.
Hubert_25-25
Terry, Larry sent me some photos of step plates, and there is a lot of variety in them from different makes and models. Some are cast as you say, and other are stamped from a sheet. Hugh
