John_Mc
My car needs a lot, including running boards. Mine are worn, chipped, etc. I've been told these are outrageously expensive to replace. Any tips of where to turn? Thanks.o Edited March 11, 2017 by John_Mc (see edit history)
19tom40
Hunley Aucuff did the ones on my 40 Merc and the workmanship was first class. I tried to go to his website, but either I have a virus or his site has been hacked. Norton will not let me load his site. Here is his phone contact info. His fee runs around $1,000 for the pair. You can save some money by cleaning the rubber off and sandblasting the boards. Because I cannot get to his website, I am not sure if he has the forms to do the 37 Zephyr boards. I had reproduction covers for my boards, but after seeing another Mercury with his covers on them, I sold my covers on E-Bay and had him cover my boards. 1423 Wilson RdRossville, Georgia 30741United States View Map >> P: (706) 866-4875
Ken/Alabama
He did the ones for my 39 Zephyr a few years back. He told me then he was about to retire. Don't know if anyone picked up the business or not.
John_Mc
Thanks to both of you guys. Seems like someone should get into the business. Also, the 1937 Zephyr's running boards have an unusual shape that is not linear. I'd love to try something myself, but not sure where to begin. PlymouthPE
For your consideration here is a link to a site in British Columbia, Canada. http://www.runningboardrubber.com/ I have no personal knowledge of their workmanship.

oldstyle
Any luck? Although I don't need it now, I will have to recover my set in the future.
John_Mc
I did speak with Runningboard Rubber noted above, and was very impressed. I would go there but it would be a $2,000 bill and so I've postponed the buy until I can get my new V-12 motor installed. 19tom40
Did you try to contact Mr. Acuff? I am wondering if he is still in the business or if he sold his business. He had 12 employees at one time.
