MrEarl
My original thread seeking help with the ongoing problem that many are having uploading pictures was somehow deleted from the Moderators forum so just wanted to bring it back up to see if hopefully that may be one of the performance issues that the server upgrade might remedy. (or I guess I could just wait and see) But also so that it might be brought to the attention of the the new tech group in case it isn't. We have been working on trying to figure something out about it in the BCA General forum but nothing conclusive was ever found. Link to comment
MrEarl
Apparently and understandably I guess, the above mentioned problem of uploading some pictures remains as evidenced by this members attempt to post pictures to a For Sale ad. Same error -200 message. Peter, I understand that as you said previously you can't fix what you can't duplicate but I wonder if this is something the new host may have experience with and could help us. (if that is even something within their obligations to do, I don't know) and I understand this is not tied to the recent server upgrade. As can be seen in the thread referenced in the previous post above, myself and the guys on the BCA forum have tried to no avail to determine what is triggering the problem. I have been wanting to start a thread about my garage build for the last couple of months but simply can't deal with the erratic nature of being able to upload pictures. I'll try and upload a few of those pictures here now and see what the results are. Results, 9 tries and 9 fails. This is on my computer using FireFox (does the same with Chrome) and Windows 7 Pro. The pictures were taken with an iPhone 5 ( but others reports same problem with camera type pictures) Well this is a first, I just took a screen shot of the file attachment area and IT wouldn't even upload. I have been able to upload them previously. Let me know if I can help. Link to comment
Steve Moskowitz
For S3, we believe we understand root cause and are working hard at repairing. Future updates across all services will be on dashboard. This is apparently an AWS problem that they are working on...you can follow their progress on Twitter 1 Link to comment
Steve Moskowitz
As you may have heard on the news, Amazon Web Services suffered an outage today that impacted a significant portion of the Internet, including your Invision managed community. We have been closely monitoring the issue and unfortunately, very little information has been shared at this point by Amazon. This also impacted our support email systems so we are just now receiving your message so please understand our lack of response was not intentional. It appears AWS is now restoring normal operations and our services are also seeing restoration. Although well beyond our control, we deeply regret any inconvenience caused to you and your users. We look forward to a quick resolution and will be happy to answer any questions you may have, to the best of our ability, once service has been restored. Thank you for your patience. This came from our new host for the site. They are responsive and that feels good for our future.... 1 Link to comment
MrEarl
Steve thanks so much for your response with that info! Just to reiterate, the -200 error upload issues were occurring a couple months before the host/server change over. I coincidentally did the test to see if the server change might have fixed that issue on the same day/time when the AWS outage was occurring. I will wait until the dust has settled from all that and give it another try. Link to comment
MrEarl
I have seen several posts of users still getting the -200 error message when trying to upload pictures. I just tried uploading 4 pictures in the buy sell forum and 3 got the -200 error message and one that the file was too large. i hope the new host can help with both of these problems. Link to comment
MrEarl
Peter, you don't know how glad I am to here that. It really helps just to hear from you that something is being looked into or is in some stage of being handled. This error -200 has been especially frustrating to me since I have been trying to sell a lot of parts in the last couple months that pictures would help tremendously with. I've also been wanting to share my new garage build and every time I tried to start a thread on that , again no pictures. I have heard from others who have become frustrated to the point that they said, "let me know when it gets fixed, till then, see ya" So again, thanks for this and everything you do. Link to comment

MrEarl
Just curious Peter, do we know what the 200 error message problem was all about, or is it just fixed and doesn't matter. Link to comment
MrEarl
Had one -200 error while trying to upload in a recent thread but when I tried same pic the second time it went through. Sooo testing here prior to attempting to post to a new thread. Adjustable Rockers All uploaded Link to comment
