57 & up rims

You would need to dismount the tire to see the manufacturer.  Suppliers back then were Kelsey-Hayes and Motor Wheel.  That might be the difference...or it could be a wheel from an earlier Buick.  If made before 1955 the bead area would be lacking the retention ridge in the bead area.

These rims were either on this car when I got it in 1975, or salvaged from the 56 Roadmaster I got in 1972. I did have some rims break on me and some were bent, so over the years I have pressed a combo between the two cars into service.  So I am assuming they are 56 rims.  Note, I said assuming.

Regardless, I am just wondering up to what year would one find riveted centers?

Thank you Diaz for your pictures on the 56 rims.  His pictures show that the Super and Century have wheels with welded centers to rims.  But his 56 Special has riveted rims. The manual says 56 Specials have 15 x5.5" rims, while all the other models use 15 x 6" rims.  I assume Special's rims are riveted and I have a set of Special rims on my 56 Super?  Does anyone have a 55 or 54  that they can take a look at their rims?

FYI, Since I have at least two bent rims, I am trying to work on having a new set of rims built for my 56.  And, since my rims are riveted it appears that the center can be separated and then welded onto new 15 x 6 " rims.  What I am trying to ascertain is where else to look for a set of riveted rims so I can send them to be worked on without giving up my current rims.

Thanks for any help

No, I did not see them.  They are interesting but not for me.  No pilot holes. Also only two.

The best part about building new rims is they will be straight, and be safety rims.  The 2nd best part of the rims I have is they are riveted, so theoretically they can be taken apart, and my centers can be re-used.  That's the best of all worlds to me.
