D Yaros
Like the dual spots on the black one! Tried, but unable to make out the state of issue of the license plates.

Brass is Best
By the look of the license plate frames these guys bought their Mercurys at the same dealership or they are in the same car club. Probably both.
wldavis
To my eyes, the lighter color car on the right, with black wall tires, looks to have body color trim around the windshield. And, the dark car, on the left, with whitewall tires, looks to have chrome (stainless) trim around the windshield. But, I looked at the 1951 Mercury brochure on-line and it does not show a "base" model for this car.

I see what you mean, but I really think it is just an optical illusion, given the lighter color of the car on the right ... I think it does have the chrome-stainless trim. Spinneyhill
The RH car has trim along the bottom of the body as well as spats with trim on the rear wheels. Both are two door and the RH car has something on the wing just under the man's arm.
tripwire
Spinneyhill has sharp eyes. There are moldings along the rockers on the light colored car. Like this one.
