Dosmo
I'm guessing the era to be around 1910, plus or minus. Does anyone know anything about the company, where located, how long they manufactured cars, etc.? All responses appreciated.
ply33
In the early 1900s there were a heck of a lot of makes with names that started with "American" or simply had "American" as the full name. This photo looks like it is of the "Underslung" model from the "American" car company of Indianapolis, Indiana (1906-1914). I'd guess about a 1913 or so model.
keiser31
I believe also that it is an American Underslung (frame and springs upside-down). Edited January 26, 2017 by keiser31 (see edit history)
1912Staver
Definitely an American Underslung , probably the top of the line traveler . I would say either a 1912 or13. 1914 had electric lights. The AACA magazine has published very good articles about these cars written by the late Walter Sealy. Circa 1980 ,AACA library should be able to provide copy's. Greg in Canada Edited January 27, 2017 by 1912Staver (see edit history)
Brass is Best
I agree with the American Underslung circa 1912. Did anyone else notice the well behaved dog, buggy exhaust, and trouble lamp mounted to the tool box on the running board?
Guest
This is an 1913 American Underslung that visited Victoria a few years ago.
Layden B
And every American carried an open sporty well proportioned body!
Guest
WOW see something new every day. I think the open bodies are slightly more attractive but I would not turn down owning this body style.
C Carl
Oh yeah ! Wow indeed ! Oh yeah , I'd take it all right ! And drive it ever farther. Tomcatting about , cruising after some semi-loony octogenarian granddaughter of the pictured enclosed lassie. You bet your ears I would ! Thanks much for posting that one ! - Carl
