auburnseeker
I recently bought a pile of mostly aftermarket parts ranging from the 1920's-about mid 1970's. IN the lot were these two parts any idea which either of them fit? The regulator is 12 volt. I'm thinking commercial or marine applications. lump
I note an old marker rendering of a part number on that Voltage Regulator, as "VR 101." I have that listed in one of my catalogs as fitting many Chrysler product vehicles from 1960 to 1969...although most listings seem to be from the early 1960's. auburnseeker
I think that number may be for a different manufacturer than the more modern ones. I too came up with that VR101 application but those regulators are quite a bit smaller and different , I've sold several of them in the past. I imagine this is probably a 40's or early 50's part at the latest by design. I do appreciate the effort you put into responding and looking this up though. hddennis
My 1936 Dodge years ago used a curved regulator like that mounted on top of the generator. Howard Dennis
Dave Henderson
The regulator looks similar to several of the "2 charge" (rate) Auto-Lite 6 volt models that fit onto the generator of a number of mid '30's vehicles. The number however does not coincide with any Auto-Lite numbers of that era as shown in their Service Replacement Catalog dated 1947.
auburnseeker
I'm really thinking because of the style of it (the regulator), making it appear old, but 12 volt being marked on it, that it's probably Big truck, or possibly industrial in nature. Seems it mounts on the generator by the curved bracket. Any guesses on the coil? I have seen it before somewhere but can't recall what it was on. studeboy
12 volt Massey Harris 333 and 444 tractors from the late 50's used regulators that looked a lot like that. They were curved to fit on the generator.
auburnseeker
Thanks. I guess I'll have to dig out my equipment catalog from back then and see what I can come up with.
