Guest stevay2005
The first lucky owner of this beautiful, authentic 1970 1/2 Pontiac Trans Am purchased this iconic, peak-year muscle car new from Key Pontiac in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in July of 1970 where it survived and thrived through late 2014, when I purchased my dream car collectible. Since then, just as its first owner did, I enjoy this spectacular car on sunny, dry days for local car shows and loud and proud cruising in central NJ. I propose there is NO other authentic, unmolested, and unrestored <47K original mile, well-documented 70 T/A in better shape mechanically, structurally or cosmetically, anywhere on our globe. This is a Real Deal, NO Excuses classic and exceedingly RARE muscle car. Every inch of this car helps us to understand and appreciate its near 50 year history. Pontiac only made 1,769 4-Speed Ram Air III Trans Am's in 1970. In its day it was one of the best handling and best looking domestic cars you could buy. Beginning just the very next year, horsepower and torque began its precipitous drop for nearly the next 25 slow and sad years. VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): 228870N###### (Norwood, OH built) Exterior: Original, Factory White paint with Blue Stripe. A $550 paint thickness gauge recently proved the overwhelming majority of this paint is factory original. First owner sprayed lower halves of both rear quarters notorious for chipped paint from road wash, especially out in the rural Pocono Mountains where this car lived. Keep in mind >99% of the time this car was under a soft cover in a closed and locked garage Interior: Original, Blue, "Low Back" Buckets, 6" tear in driver's seatback otherwise mint condition headliner, carpet, seats, console, original AM P/B radio (two of the few options this car has) Engine: Original Numbers Matching Ram Air III 400ci/345HP (WS Code - correct for the RA3 with a 4-spd); Original block, heads, intake and exhaust manifolds. Runs VERY strong with NO Smoke Carb: Original Rochester Quadra-jet 7040273 - correct numbers, date and transmission with working divorced choke. In excellent shape. All linkages intact. New choke pull off. Check it out - ebay sellers seek up to 5K for this carb alone! Transmission: Original 4-spd Manual Muncie M-20 Wide throw, Original Hurst shifter, Original black “eight ball” knob. Rows through the gears (up and down) easy and as new - no whine, no grind, no pop-outs, no resistance Rear: Original 12 Bolt Rear Axle (Last Year for a 12 Bolt Rear in a Trans Am) Wheels: Original 15" (correct for the 70 T/A) Rally II wheels with correct numbers and gorgeous trim rings + original Rally II spare with original Polyglas F60 x 15 tire (just the spare) and Original, functional jack (not that anyone would use it, but it's here where it belongs) Original, Factory red primer on the undercarriage and in the trunk Vehicle Title: Clear, in my personal name Mileage: ORIGINAL 46,700 (first owner drove this car 45,450 miles when I bought it in November, 2014) Newer/replaced transverse mounted muffler, RWL tires, coil, water pump, incidentals Documentation: Excellent pedigree - Original (laminated) BOS and Loan Agreement, PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) all correct with the few options he ordered, direct match to the BOS, Owner's Manual, Brochures, copy of original owner's (PA) Title, Owner's (hand written) maintenance log, some receipts, Featured on two color pages in Hot Pontiac magazine (he gave me two copies) in 1990 when this car turned 20 years old; 10-15 oil filter box stubs with hand printed mileage and oil viscosity used; Never restored. Paint still shows beautifully. No evidence of body work. Weather stripping tired but not dead. Considering the age and mileage, in excellent running and cosmetic condition. I would give it a "2" for an unrestored car. This is a SERIOUS, RARE and COLLECTIBLE Muscle car. Additional pictures gladly provided to any with serious interest. I am a proud NJ region AACA member. The car is located in my garage in north central New Jersey, 07922. I welcome your appraisers to schedule an appointment to inspect and appraise this car. If the roads are dry I will be glad to take your appraiser for a ride so that they may provide an accurate and detailed assessment of how the car starts, runs and behaves.
