I thought the grille bottom support crossmember was painted but it turned out to be bright work. Steel wool, elbow grease and chrome polish did the job. I will post pics later of the finish product.

Lately nothing to report, I started this project late December 2016 and just realized is March, 2018 so I’m not too far off with the 4 to 6 years prediction. Where does time go you might ask? I believe time is a set period and we are the ones flying through it.... man I’m getting old!

Anyways enough with this melancholic ? thinking, you can tell I was answering nature’s call. Time to hit the wrenches ? to proceed with left turns. In a positive note: body man is coming tomorrow!

Today we replaced the inner rocker panels that I ordered a while back. The outer rocker panels will be made from scratch. I don’t like the way the new ones fit

Classic to current Fabrication replacement  outer rocker panels do not fit, different width and wrong placement of column openings. We made the inner ones to work. We will be making our own. Just food for thoughts if anybody needs to order from this company

Today We switched to the passenger side and started to install the outer rocker... slowly but surely. While deconstructing 68 years old Tin was melted away from door jamb/columns welds

Finally finish rockers both sides. Started with left doors. We are going to fabricate door skin panels from side molding down and door bottoms. Previously repaired with fiberglass and Bondo

Body work is not finish yet but between jobs, still working on lamps and other odds and ends. Back up lamps are ready to go. Housing and wiring was refurbished, glass lens cleaned and bright Work polished. New hand made gaskets were also installed. The lamp was tested with the original made in the USA #1029 bulb. I bet those Chinese replacements won’t last that long.

I noticed that the front turn signal lamps lenses are plastics. Are these originals or were they were glass as the rear? I have new plastic replacements as well but if glass was original, would like to go that route.

You might want to use glass ones if you put in LED bulbs. I have heard from various rod guys that those builds generate heat and sometimes melt the plastic lenses.

This is second hand info so take it as that as I have no experience concerning this.

Otherwise, you are moving along and looking good.?

No LED for me, will go original candle power. Don’t even know if LED comes for 6 volts system. Of all the gathered parts from parts car I’m still missing a glass lens so I will look again and will hunt for one if I can’t find it!

Actually I know a few RHD Buicks from 48, 49 and 50. They were sold to South Africa (those I know) and prolly to other (former) British territories.

How are you faring with this project?

Coming along, remember the 3 factors to consider in this hobby. Time, space and money ? in any order you may want to use them.

today will be working on door bottoms and skin fabrication. I saw the color you painted your parts but not the same shade as the Mopar Turcoise but they are coming out really good
