victorialynn2
Trying to locate one. Looks like this, but not sure if it's the same. Round on one side, rectangle on the other. Would appreciate any help! Edited December 30, 2016 by victorialynn2 (see edit history)

victorialynn2
Couldn't find one. I can find one for a 79 mustang that looks right on EBay, but can't verify.

Rusty_OToole
Have you tried your local Lincoln dealer? My experience of Lincoln is they will not believe one of their heaps is still running after 8 years but you never know.

victorialynn2
Dealer has no clue and can't call the supplier or give me a number to call so I ordered the closest thing I could fine online. They are both for V8's and if not right I can return. It's actually for a Mustang but maybe I will get lucky. Wish me luck! NTX5467
In many cases, the original should have a FoMoCo part number cast into it, on a flat surface. Like E7LL-_____-__ format. With that, you could do an online part number search. PartsVoice.com is a vintage parts vendor, purchasing "obsolete" OEM parts from the OEMs when they discontinue them and still have stock. It will require a free registration, but with that part/stamp number, that'll get you started There could be some later part number changes, but that first part number is the key. NOW . . . it is highly possible the same part did fit the Mustang! Advertising it as a Lincoln part would turn many off when it was what they needed. Going the other way, a Mustang part that fits a Lincoln is more marketable. Happy Holidays! NTX5467

superior1980
Please let us know if the part works. I need the same thing for my 1977 Mercury, and have been looking without success trying to find a good one off a junkyard car. By the way, given the age of your car, Lincoln dealers are useless. I used to work on a friend's 1979 Mark V and tried my local Lincoln dealer at first as a parts source. The dealer told me that Lincoln trashed all their parts records from 1979 and earlier, meaning that the dealer can't even look up a part unless its from 1980 or newer.
victorialynn2
Yep, that's pretty much how it was.
Rusty_OToole
Lincoln dealer laughed when I asked for help on a 10 year old town car. I wonder how they sell those $70,000 jobs when they tell the customer not to expect it to run more than a few years. Maybe they don't tell them.

I think I outsmarted the parts Gods. The openings are the same size. Edited December 30, 2016 by victorialynn2 (see edit history)

Ed Luddy
Good luck on your eBay listing. I've noticed these model Linc's have been rising in price in the last few years. I had 3 Town Cars from the '70's back in the day. Very nice ride but they were too hard on gas for me. Happy New Years!!
