84 Toronado rear shock options

Guest

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased an `84 Toronado. It has the "non-operational" factory rear air shock system. What I`m looking to do is replace the rear shocks with a set of standard ones. Does anyone know offhand what will fit(car year, make, and model). Getting the guy at the parts store to open up all of his shock for me to compare is not an option.

If you don't want to pay big bucks for Original Delcos, I suggest that you use Monroes. You have to purchase a Tee kit (AK-16 I think is the #) Originals have two fittings on the left side shock (an in and an out)the other side has an in only. On my Riv's (same platform as Toro's)I split the cross over line and install the tee then pull the suppley to the inside of the frame and hook to the tee. One thing I have notice is that Auto leveling take longer to pump up if a load is put in the trunk or passengers ride in the rear. other then that the seem to work fine.
