;) I just bought a 85 Buick Riviera Convertible  and I want to know if a black paint scheme with buckskin top and insides with black piping  would be a good color combination??

Black with tan-ish interior eternally classic. Cant go wrong in my opinion. I prefer a French seam as to piping.

Of course, deviating from original scheme may lower your re-sale value - if you care.

Good luck and share photos!

If you are going to redo the interior (convertibles only came with red) my favorite redo would make a 1983 Indy pace car clone.

They made something like 500 replica hard tops but only 2 convertibles were the actual pace cars, love those wire wheels.

I know it is a completely different body style but I looked at a Black/Saddle Reatta Conv several years ago, I bought the Silver Arrow instead, but I think what you are looking at is a sharp combo! I'm also not sure about the piping in the seats, but I can't say it would not look good. That would be entirely up to you, the owner of the car.

I also have my Black/Platinum Beige, kind of tan, '95 that I've had for several years, I'll say again I think it is a sharp color combination.

I never panel on selling  the car guys. I just thought I'd  like her  to be a little  different  from the norm. Also did they Ever make grills similar to the El Dorado? I was told that they where custom  ordered also with continental  bumper kits...

Individuality is great!  Years ago, GM and other

companies recognized that, and offered 15 to 22

different paint colors and 5 to 10 different leather colors.

The more luxurious the car, the more choices.

Stutz announced for 1928, "Every car in this

remarkable line will be given an individualized

color combination.  No two cars exactly alike!"

That meant every car they made that year would

be have different exterior colors from all the rest.

Your Riviera, however, is already individual, Texas Rivi:

Those cars were numbered in the mere hundreds.

Consider keeping that rare Riviera authentic in its

red or white paint.  Maybe buy that black-and-tan

Reatta too!

A friend of mine here in the Kansas City areally has the seats and carpeting from a car with the W15 interior option he'd sell.  Not quite the color you might be looking for, but leather and suede, with Wilton wool carpeting might be pretty cool in a convertible.

For a better idea of what thelse W15 option is, Google "riviera W15 interior option" then click on the images tab.  You'll see complete interiors, they're more of a dark beige than the same interior in the 83XX Anniversary car.  Only the seats and carpeting are available.  The seller is using the door panels, dash, and steering wheel in a different project.
