Here's a website dedicated to Cadillac station wagons.  It seems the Indy 500 connection is somewhat shrouded in mystery, so I'd be willing to bet that there's no documentation.  This car is very similar to one that sold at auction in 2004, see details in write up....   http://cadillacstationwagon.com/

We restored a '56. You are correct, very little documentation.

Could have been a flower car except for the colour. Being a hard top would have been easier to get the large arrangements out.

Yep!  That Cadillac station wagon forum is run by a guy who did a replica of the 1972 MC "Coke Machine" NASCAR.
