George Albright
Super rare and superb original 1935 Evinrude Elto Sportfour outboard. 4 cylinder 16.2 HP. Very few made, fewer exist. From original family. Has controls and a correct spare carb! The two factory threaded rods on the back of the motor are to attach a steering arm onto,so the motor can be operated by a steering wheel, with these controls. Was inside stored off of the family wooden speedboat in 1968,and just removed from that storage 2 months ago! Turns over, good compression. I have not tried to start it. Model number 9008.Serial number 9008 0081. 81st one built. Nice three blade speed prop. Great for your vintage speed or wooden boat, hydro,or hydroplane. $900 firm. Will store until picked up, but must be paid for immediately. Approx 100 lbs. Will consider shrinkwapping and UPS for costs,to USA address. JACK M
Very cool George. I have seen many of these old motors over the years but have never seen a control box as nice as that one. I still have an ID manual somewhere around here that decodes the serial numbers. I don't get asked to look that stuff up very often any more. JACK M
E L T O Stands for Evinrudes Light twin outboards. Does your actually say Elto on it? If it does I guess they still used the name when they started to make four cyls.
George Albright
It does not say Elto on the motor,I just added that in the title for search purposes. It is a Model 9008,which means it was made in early 1935. I have seen that production list. It is serial number 0081,the 81st one built! Quite rare! alsfarms
Hello George, This is off subject, but how did your area fair during the pass-over of the hurricane? Al
George Albright
Thanks for your concern. The eye came right over Ocala and Marion County but did little building damage. Many trees down and most without power. No casualties which was a miracle! Blessings George
