ShawnLancaster
I'm working on a 1936 Chevy 1/2 ton Canopy Express and the rear panel on the bead looks to be fitted and maybe soldered together. Anyone have experience removing the top from the bottom on the bead without distorting the bead? I'm thinking of heating up and potentially prying it, but thought I'd ask some smarter people than me. Also - what was the way this was originally put together - soldered or maybe 2 sheets beaded together? Thanks in advance. Shawn
Rusty_OToole
Look on the inside, it is probably flanged and spot welded together. Usually it is possible to separate panels by drilling the spot welds. Depends what you are trying to do. If it is a matter of replacing a smashed or rusted out panel just cut out the bad part and weld in the new. This is better and easier unless the whole panel is a write off. It would be more informative to give us a farther away view and be more specific about what panel and what you are trying to do.
ShawnLancaster
Thx - You are right - upon closer inspection it is spot welded. I'm going to be drilling them out to remove. I've got to remove the panel due to wood brackets and steel behind it that needs to be redone. Thx for the tip.
