Guest
Let's slow down and relax folks. I too remain very skeptical about the so-called '65 Packard revival with a v-12. My grandfather spent 28 years with Packard and kept in touch with many retired Packard execs and I never heard him mention anything about a '65 - but that does not necessarily mean it never happened - I just dobt that it did. If PAC printed a fabricated story - I believe it was an honest mistake. I know the key people involved and they are good people. Let's calm down and not take ourselves TOO seriously for a change. Guest
I for one come here to learn about Packards, not to learn who can be the biggest fool that owns a Packard. Errors happen, so get over it and quit trying to pick fights. If this diatribe continues, I for one will contact the AACA Board of Directors to ask that this thread be removed. This cruelty found in posts occurred at another website and that forum was removed. Most all car clubs are run by volunteers and as such, these volunteers work hard for the hobby and YOU. Let's see what we can do to improve the hobby rather than tear it down. Look at it this way, a young person interested in the old car hobby would be very turned off by reading this thread thinking are these the type of people I'd be socializing with, a rhetorical question. I can assure you that the people of my region(s) and car club(s) are just as opinionated, but they are also compassionate and understanding concerning any errors. Just my $.02. Guest
Mouse: I am the one who started this thread to begin with. When everything is going good with a club everybody wants to take the credit. When something goes wrong nobody wants to take the credit. I realize that in any article there are mistakes made. In this article however this it was pure rubbish. A person can ask questions with out being confrontational about it and do so in a polite manner. Which is what Iintend to do when I go to Hershey, NOW FELLOWS I THINK ITS TIME THIS THREAD BE BROUGHT TO A CLOSE. Mouse your last post had no infuence on my wanting to bring this thread to an end. If you have aproblem with what I did by starting this thread CONTACT ME.
Guest
Personal attacks can potentially put AACA as well as the person posting in a culpable position based upon recent Internet Case Law. If you don't care about yourself, at least care about AACA who provides us a free Forum. Thanks for listening. P.S. I'm a Mouse too! he he
Guest
Excuse me, but what kind of decorticate, raging idiot posted the original? Many of us in the Packard Club, including members of the board of trustees and officers of the club like me, have serious doubts about the 1965 Packard article. It came to the editor from a presumably reputable and knowledgeable source -- a man who, in retrospect, was simply looking for some recognition. He chose the wrong way to go about it. We'll take care of the issue. Meanwhile, Mr. Raging Bull, shape up your act.
Guest
Mr. Crowne: It seems that you must have trouble reading. In my past last post I request that nomore comments be made on this thread, that I started. I cansay that I really don't know who you are. FRANKLY I REALLY DON'T CARE. I am an idiot raging bull that seems to know more about S&P history of the 50's, than some some of the board members and the editor. If you like I could recomend two very good books by reputable authors about the history of Studebaker and Packard. These two books I have in my library. I have no doubts about the story at all being a hoax. I knew so even before reading the story.

Peter Gariepy
To Everyone in this thread - You all have the right to your own opinions. However, in the future make you point without using defamitory comments. I normally am very hands-off relative to this forum but will not tolerate personal attacks. Guest
Butcha arne't taking care of it are ya Mistah Crowne (is that your real name?) No mention at all in the latest Cormorant. Only a brief little paragraph in the CNB. Are you hoping we'll all forget all that egg on your collective faces? BE MEN. Accept responsibility for a major screw up. Don't just say, "We'll take care of it. . . ." How? When? Where? They should rename the mag, "The Pass the Buck Journal."

Guest imported_PackardV8
This was one of the first threads in reaction to the 1965 V12 and it got a little juicy. I'm resurrecting it so noone will forget.
Guest B.H.
Though I haven't much new to say about it, I haven't forgotten, and it remains as one big black mark against those clubs. In fact, I nearly gagged when I saw some reference to a "sport-utility" in the last issue of TPC - until I read far enough to find that it was bona fide lead-in material for an article on one of the cars of Carl Schneider.A friend who is a member of SDC said he never saw anymore about that Packard "fairy tale" in print, beyond a similar "apology." I suspect the matter has been, and will remain, swept under the rug by the clubs. The Packard Club would do well, in the future, to fly such matters past former editor Langworth - if only on a "consulting" basis. Maybe they won't get fooled again (at least, not real soon), but that such a poorly-substantiated account was not only printed as fact, but remains unresolved within any club is a sad example of publishing. Of course, when you look how far our American culture has de-generated in the last couple of decades, is it really any surprise that stuff like this happens? Guest B.H.
Hmm, the statement:

Quote:

..the photos went directly to the printer and were not seen by us until printed.

...seems rather contrary to what Packard53 was told at at the PAC tent at Hershey this year.

Guest imported_PackardV8
CLARIFICATION: This thread as well as many others regarding a 1965 Packard V12 IS NOT A MISPRINT OF THE YEAR!!!!!! IT IS 1965 as in Nineteen SIXTY FIVE. In fact this subject has been nearly covered exhaustively todate and still NOT RESOLVED. AGAIN let me REPEAT it is with regard to a HOAX (as in deliberatly phony) article that was RECENTLY published about a 1965 V12 Packard. (as in nineteen SIXTY FIVE) and NOT 1956 (fifty six). Guest imported_PackardV8
There are other threads about the 65 v12 too i can search for if need be. In fact, i'm beginning to think there be a need right now. GET THE PICTURE????!!!I edited this post due to a Canadian complaint. Any one else who doesn't like it now including Clipper47, can kiss my Royal, white, red neck American pooper.
Clipper47
In Canada we use the phrase "Lest We Forget" solely on Remembrance Day, November 11 to remember those who sacrificed there lives for their country. Those words have a meaning which are sacred and I can't imagine using the phrase to refer to a long forgotten AACA Forum thread.
Guest imported_PackardV8
I did not capitalize the words of the phrase so it should not be confused with the Canadian usage.
