I looked at this car today.

Needs alot of rust repair: in addition to the floors, quarter panels behind the rear tires (typical) are gone, trunk floor at front and rear body mounts is gone. Rear panel and trunk lid has abnormal rust through. Typical rust around rear window. Significant rust at leading edge of hood. Typical rust on door frames. Car was painted at some point, hence the shine, but lots of bondo (flaking off) used at spots. Motor is red with green Power Steering Pump bracket.... Couldnt find numbers on it so willing to bet that its not original. Missing stock air cleaner. Air condition car and looks complete under the hood. Power antenna. Am Stereo. 2 Road Wheel on left side, steel wheels with spoke hubcaps on right side. Interior is nice; driver seat re-done. Dash has small cut in it. Headliner is hanging. Rear shelf is nice. Owner says he has missing dash and console pieces but i didnt see them.

Overall, sadly, even for a bodyman, this car needs alotta fab work to restore. Maybe if this was a GS, but not sure its worth it for a base Riviera without the original motor.

Paul your car was better than this IMO.

For $50k asking price.... The seats are horribly amateur redone, the original door window weather stripping is shot, sits up too high in rear so wrong springs, wrong brake booster (disc brake mod..was it done right?), wrong color engine, door wiring conduits are shot, and no pics of trunk or undercarriage so it probably looks like hell. I don't think the paint is as good as pics show. I know I know negative nanny here

This past Saturday I went with a friend, as a consultant, to look at a 63 Riviera. The asking price was $3500. The car was backed up to a wall and the driver’s side was next to a wall.  We were able to take a good look from the front and he passenger’s side. The car is sitting on some 71> later Buick rally wheels.  The Fisher Data plate showed that the car was silver with silver interior (still is original) has standard interior with PW, PS, a/c, tinted glass, remote mirror, and remote trunk release.  It has tilt and who knows what other options that are not stamped into the data plate. We verified that the car was built the last week of production in July - 7C, and the FISHER body number is within a couple of hundred of #40,000.  The engine production code is JW so it is an honest 425 with serial number matching the VIN.  We were told about rust in the floor board and couldn’t see any in the passenger’s side rockers or fenders.  The seller was curious about the remote trunk release so we pulled the car out. The trunk release didn’t pop the trunk but the trunk wasn’t fastened.  Upon opening the trunk, we found one cast wheel cover and the entire rail for the trunk seal completely rusted away.  We walked. Neither Ben nor I have the metal working skills to take on a project of this degree.

So, if any of you have the need for a project and what could be a nice car by putting a lot of metal work around the trunk, and the typical restoration stuff, let me know and I’ll get you some contact information.  If you’ve ever seen Lee Carrol’s 1963, you know exactly what this car could be in the right hands.

Bucking the norm for dismal Craigslist photos, the owner was apparently at the right place at the right time when taking photos for that '66.  The shadow lines on that rear-quarter shot with that silver-blue metallic are awesome!  I already have a '67 but that picture makes me think about adding another...  ;)

Pretty nice Sunburst Yellow Riv.  You don't see many yellow ones.  I have one too with the saddle interior and a 425 dual quad engine and AC.

Why do you think Bill Mitchell painted Silver Arrow I two tones of silver using these body lines to separate the two silvers.  If you just look at it casually, you'll just think it's the reflection of light.

These two 1970 Rivieras are on Craigslist in Phoenix right now.

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/phoenix-1970-buick-riviera/7445288538.html

Both are reposts.  I've talked to the guy with the one with the totally rusted engine photo.  He dismantled it and lost all the parts so the engine is a total loss.  The other looks real rusty.  They are both just parts cars in my view.

I don't think either looks restorable in any practical sense.  They both need absolutely everything redone.    However ... I'm wondering what people here would think of getting both and seeing if one could come out of it with most of what you'd need to get a complete car.  Or does 2 times zero still equal zero.

New here but I have restored 3 other cars in my time and also have 40 years of metalworking experience and a complete metal working shop.  However my work and experience was in construction, not sheet metal fabrication.  Although in some sense metal is just metal.

Hello everyone. If you don't care about back story, feel free to skip to the last paragraph. Just made an account to be able to post here because it seems to have several people with the knowledge to help me and be honest. I bought a barn find '65 about 13 years ago with the intent of restoring it with my father because we both fell in love with 65 Rivs after the movie Roadhouse. Unfortunately things got busy elsewhere, life changed for reasons I won't get into, and I don't see when I will have the time and money to commit to it at this stage of my life. I have reluctantly decided to sell it because I want it to be the beautiful car it deserves to be and I also need the money for an engagement ring...

So my question is this: What would you say the car is worth? I have been trying to figure out what I should ask for it and it is really difficult to find one for sale in similar condition to compare.

Here is what I know about it:

It is a NC car that was last registered in 1975 and parked due to an engine failure. I still have most of the 401 Nailhead, but it's honestly just a boat anchor because it threw a rod and took a very large portion of a cylinder with it. The rest of the drivetrain is all there. Car appears to have originally been a beautiful dark metallic blue before some dummy painted over it with what seems to be yellow house paint....  98% of the trim is all there and in excellent condition. The frame, floors and trunk are very solid. Small rust hole behind the driver's fender and some rust around the driver's rear wheel well. Small area of rust at the bottom driver's corner of the rear glass. The rest of the body is great. There are a lot of parts that came with the car, including 4 hubcaps, the spare tire jack, and a wildcat air cleaner for some reason. The doors, hood, and trunk shut perfectly straight with no weird gaps. All the interior except for the radio appears to be there.

So can anyone with knowledge of '65s give me an honest input of what I could sell it for in today's market? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

Ya I figured I wouldn't consider much more than $5,000 for both.
