FYI, there is a 1969 with 15,400 original miles being offered by Tom Mack.  (tommackclassics.com).  This car was advertised by someone else approximately 5 years ago when I was living in NC.  It had 7,000 miles on it then.  It has a real unusual combination of options to include the ultra rare rear seat shoulder belts.

FYI, the car is now being offered by Orlando Classic Cars for $35,000.  It is on ebay as well.

A change of pace on eBay—1978 Silver/Black Riviera LXXV with 35,000 miles, asking $19,500:

Decently equipped but not loaded, with the L80 403 ci engine and chrome-plated wheels. What's the market for one of these?

I just scored a great find on Ebay the other day!

A NOS 68-69 All Buick Coolant Overflow Reservoir kit (part # 981766).

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Buick-Riviera-Wildcat-Coolant-Reservoir-68-69-Vintage-981766-ALL-MODELS-GM/133218750670?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

No, I didn't pay $225 for it! :-)

All I need is a length of rubber hose and I will be set to install this kit in The Aqua Zephyr.

I will post some pictures of the install in a few weeks.

Yesterday's Hemmings Find of the Day was a Verde Green 1965 Riviera, asking $58,000:

—it sold quickly.

If car is mechanically and body, as shown in photos, it's worth every cent. If known history with documentation it's a steel.

I believe this vehicle to be a poser.  This is a restoration that was made to look like a Gran Sport.  The fender badges are incorrect.  They list it as a 401 Dual Quad.  There is no such thing.  The rear axle carrier does not have the circle with x, indicating a posi.  The carrier assy looks to have a plug on the right hand side.  It has the accessory switch which indicates rear defog, but the rear deck cover has no rear defog duct.  Of course it has the optional horn bar steering wheel with no horn bars!  :)  The exhaust is all wrong.  Finally, it is grossly overpriced.

According to the data plate, the paint code is "JJ" with a "629" custom interior trim. Car was originally Verde Green with a Saddle interior.

Not familiar with it, but keep in mind NC is a very WIDE state. Kitty Hawk is a pretty good ways from me.

It does look pretty good.

Any mention of paint problems can be pretty costly though. And, their price on ebay is around twice what NADA and KBB put its value at.

Probably not as good a candidate as the last one, the one you bid on on ebay.

Not much market unfortunately for the LXXV. Bad for sellers but good for buyers. Much like the XX Anniversary cars they just never seemed to get any traction in desirability. "Maybe" a bump in 10% over the non-LXXV model. They are great cars to drive and own but don't buy with any hope of appreciation. Buy to drive and enjoy.

The asking price for this one at $19,500 well above what I'd expect even with the lower mileage. $7-10k is probably closer to reality...….but this is just one opinion.

I remember when Ray Knott had one of these and he drove it to the annual meet at Lake Geneva.  I remember him saying that these were the nicest, most comfortable riding of all Riviera's.

The standard complaint against this generation of Riviera is that they were just gussied up LeSabre coupes. A Popular Mechanics quote from October 1978 was especially brutal—"last year’s Riviera amounted to a special version of the Buick LeSabre coupe and, to many, was indistinguishable from it.”

But, if you were going to base the Riviera on a "generic" platform, what a platform to base it on! Overall, the 1977 B-platform cars shook the industry and aged astoundingly well.

I have come to regard these cars with affection and at least some degree of understanding, and was glad to see a 1977 at Gettysburg this year. As the Riviera Project slowly proceeds, my tentative title for this generation's chapter is an era-appropriate "Staying Alive."

Ok I respect this as a Riviera forum but I just gotta see this Jag!

I had a XK8 hardtop way back - another gentlemen’s cruiser.

I don’t know which is a greater money pit - Jags or Rivs?

Congrats

It’s official: the Jag is a money pit. Several thousand dollars spent and it’s still not right. Plus I can’t find the parts I need.

Buicks are so much easier.

Either way - you pay the price of high maintenance for the most beautiful!

I recall there being a few shops rebuilding most of the Jag  "modules" on the cheap.

You see this 1967 GS up for sale?  Bid at 20G already.

Oh my...!

After restoring a 1987 XJS V12 convertible, I can assure you, the Jags money pit is bottomless!!

Thats a nice car. Don't see a GS that original too often. I bet the gas tank isn't even dented. Agree odd on the insulation band MIA. Too bad pics aren't higher resolution. I'd like to see it in person.

Yeah, it looks like it is in great condition, yet no clear close up pics does not do it justice.

All,

Here a 64 Riviera on Craigslist.  What I know is that it has (2) 425ci, dual quad engines.  One is in the car (not the original), the original goes with the car, but believed to have a spun bearing.  My son look at the car and he told my son he would take $5000 for car and the extra engine.

Jaguars are easy. I have had 6. You buy a nice one and when it breaks you sell it and buy another until it breaks. There are plenty nice ones available.

ALWAYS be very careful in conversations and agree with any criticism and comments about the cost of ownership. Keep it negative. If you let out that they are pretty good cars the prices would go up, for sure.

Oh! And do your own work. One one came along with kitty litter, sprinkled some mechanic, and said "Poof, you are a Jaguar mechanic".

If you own a Buick you should have plenty of time to work on any Brand X that catches your eye.

Just curious, are the problems OBD2 related?

Not yet. Still working through the mechanical systems. A lot of codes were stored but its reset now and I’ll wait to see what faults recur. It almost caught on fire last week; perhaps I should’ve let it go up in flames.

Odd - a bid battle 4 days before end?

For a bench seat car?

Hmmmmm 🤔

My interaction with the seller:

"Paint code D Saffire Blue The car is in Omaha and I'm in Phoenix trying to help my mentally challenged brother sell his assets. He purchased it new in 67 and it was appraised by a professional last year for 35,5 and he remarked that in his 30 years of appraising cars he has never seen a more pristine Buick
Riv. GS than this one. I don't have any more pics at this time but the car has never been altered or damaged. It's the real deal."

Based on the latest addition seller indicating NADA is $37k plus it probably won't hit reserve. If the car was up to date running and driving with all mechanical systems gone through that would help. but still considering the TERRIBLE low resolution pictures at current $27k its doing well. Even with photo editing I can not see the Riviera hood script. Much like the hood insulation band if its there and the resolution is so bad you can't see it what else can't be seen? would have to look at this one in person if serious.
