I just bought a Jaguar on BaT last week. Be careful out there; it’s dangerously easy to do.

Ok I respect this as a Riviera forum but I just gotta see this Jag!

I had a XK8 hardtop way back - another gentlemen’s cruiser.

I don’t know which is a greater money pit - Jags or Rivs?

Congrats

WOW

I believe thats a loaded XKR?!

XKR's pumped out 420 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque while the cabin was quiet as a Caddy. Insane.

Those Italian (Pirelli) shoes alone will cost you over a G.

Very nice.

Yes, it’s the rare Portfolio edition, and a set these Detroit BBS wheels costs more than I’ve paid for some of my Buicks

That will look really nice sitting next to your Riviera convertible.

Right, same nice shape, sorta like a boat. As a consequence, the Riv convertible got me thinking about my old Jag XK8 that I still miss. I’ll take a picture when I get the two of them together.

All the nice Jaguar wheels are non-trivial and the ones from that age all have actual place names. Our far less glamorous sedan had handsome Aguila wheels.

I can't copy and paste using this Android, but if you get on the Kansas City Craigslist and type in 'Riviera rear end' you'll find a 3.07 positive traction unit complete in the housing for $550. The seller states in the ad that is has new bearings in it.

Kind of interesting: the last of the non-personal luxury Rivieras, from the two years when Riviera meant "hardtop version of the Electra 225 sedan."

1962 Willow Mist Poly Buick Electra 225 Riviera sedan with tan/green bench seat and 50,000 miles, offered at no reserve:

Sold for $13,500 with 36 bids, between Hagerty #3/Good ($9,200) and #2/Excellent ($15,600) money. Now, back to the Rivieras most of us are thinking of …

Here we go again with these low-mileage sixth generation cars … 1984 Brown Buick Riviera with a brown Landau top and (you guessed it) brown Prima cloth 45/45 seats. 10,600 miles, with a minimum bid of $14,100 (I wonder what value guide that very specific number came from).

After that short run of restrained cars, here we are back with Landau top and the Custom locking wire wheel covers. No window sticker, but there is a fairly well-preserved build sheet.

1963 Base model seen for sale today at the ROA NC Riviera's in the Park picnic.

Belongs to a ROA member in North Carolina.

Nice looking car that appears to be an older restoration.

The owner told me he put 97 Firebird front seats in it and had them recovered in a 63 Riviera seat cover pattern.

Phone number is shown.

I can offer a bit of history on the car … The engine was rebuilt 11 years ago, I was participating in the club a bit more back then, and because Jim had broken his heel I believe, the club members got together and installed it for him. He said it has around 11,000 miles since the rebuild.

A little history on the reason for the seats. He converted it to a 700R4 transmission and there was a linkage clearance issue, so I believe he had to get narrower seats and run the shift linkage inside the car?

As Mike said, it is a good looking, and rust free car.

More info about the car can be found in the Riview. Jim did a Members Showcase that was published in Vol. 27 No. 1 on pages 16 & 17.

Mike drove this car to the ROA event in Eureka Springs, AR in 2005.  He told me at the time that with the 700R4 transmission and his stock 3.07 rear end, he was getting about 23 miles per gallon.  The stock rear end coupled to the o/d transmission gives a final drive ratio of 2.15.  The nailhead has the torque to handle that low gear at a little less than 1300 rpms at 70 mph.

I am guessing you mean JIM, the owner of the car?

That was one hell of a convoy we put together that year! If I remember correctly there was four of us trying to keep pace for two days covering almost 1,000 miles. THAT was an interesting trip to be sure!

Thanks for squaring that up.  We had five in our convoy but for the most part we only "convoyed" from my place to Eureka Springs.  Chris Wolfe drove to my place from Denver, his passenger was Odin Lowe from Norway. Crhris and Janette Knowles drove to my place from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  From my place we drove south and picked up Rich and Pam Pirch just south of Kansas City, then Galen and Donna Shields joined us another 80 miles south in Pittsburg, KS.  We basically only were together as a group for a little over 120 miles out of the 250 miles from my pkace to the hotel  A '63, a '65 GS, a '79 T-type, an '84 convertible, and a '98.

Linda and I drove with another couple from KC to Lexington. We were in Linda's 93, the other couple were in a 65 GS. That was a real experience.  They had to stop for gas twice as often, and they werent too sure of their car running over 65 mph.  Luckily that wasn't too far.  We split up on the wwy home and took the scenic southern route.  It was only an 8 hour drive, but our traveling companions made it an overnight half way there. 🤔  In other words, I cannot imagine trying to keep a group together for a 1,000 miles.

Reposting this from our BCA Chapter secretary:

BCA Tarheel Chapter member Jim Morrison's Roadmaster is now being advertised for sale.  Pass the word as appropriate.  It will also be in the November Bugle.  As most of you know, I have the car at my place if anyone wants to see it in person.  Hemmings doesn't publish phone numbers online, but feel free to share my email address with interested parties

Make sure to check the tag on that black vehicle. Very often not factory black.

Regal Black was not offered on the 1969 Riviera.  I have been told by some people that it was offered late during the model run but I am not 100% sure.  Maybe a member has a dealer bulletin to support this?  Of course a special order color could be had and the data plate should be able to verify if it was a special order color.

It would be special ordered if factory black, yet would still have the code of A for regal black.

The same is true in 71 and my factory black 71 has the code for Regal Black.

FYI, there is a 1969 with 15,400 original miles being offered by Tom Mack.  (tommackclassics.com).  This car was advertised by someone else approximately 5 years ago when I was living in NC.  It had 7,000 miles on it then.  It has a real unusual combination of options to include the ultra rare rear seat shoulder belts.

Depending on the angle and lighting, some shots (front and back) look like it's the olive beige color.  I can't tell for sure.  As I said earlier, this car was for sale in NC approximately 5 or so years ago with half the mileage.  I was tempted to go look at it because I was intrigued by the low miles and very unusual combination of options but decided not to.
