This is not my listing. Clean car, '64 with dual quads. Looks good from the front, but it's got an ugly-ass Continental kit on it, and fender skirts. See something new every day!

Did you read the fine print.  Any pictures of the car not in the garage are "stock photos" of a similar car.

Seen on Facebook Marketplace. (not my listing)

Strato-Bench seat but appears to have rear defrost, speed minder, 8-track, cruise control switch but missing CC mechanism on carb. Owner states he has the air cleaner housing and chrome lid in the trunk.

Claims the car was a "barn find" that has sat for several years but that he has been "tinkering with and fixing up".

He states the AC  control label fell off. I asked him about the HVAC controls. I only see two wheels on the controls, but the car has a full AC setup in the engine compartment.

Appears to have originally had a vinyl top.  'Riviera' script missing from the front of the hood.  Upholstery is definitely not OEM style; it would look more appropriate in a mid-70's Riviera, IMHO.  It has a disc brake master cylinder, but has drum brakes in front.  Still, it seems like a solid driver for the right person.

Same fabric that was in my '84 El Camino.  How can you visually tell the difference between a disk and a drum master cylinder?

Yeah, 70's/80's velour for sure!  Blue cloth would look like this:

image.thumb.png.8bb6a9522495076963378d36cef483c5.png

The disc brake master cylinder has a larger reservoir at the forward end (for front brakes) and a smaller one on the booster end for the rears.  The added capacity is needed to compensate for the disc brake caliper piston extending farther out of the caliper body as the pads wear, which increases the volume of fluid held behind the piston(s).

Mine was the same way when I got it, but have since replaced it with the drum brake version, which has  two chambers of the same size (smaller).

I was thinking there was originally a vinyl top and I knew the upholstery was somehow wrong—great point on it having a more recent look. Totally missed the brakes.

Customs are tough to sell—especially as they age.

1966 Riviera very custom "Golden Piranha" completed by Frank DeRosa in 1983. Archaic even in 1983, with a Continental rear and a ridiculously velour interior. Stunning but aged paint. Still one of the most famous Riviera customs, for whatever that's worth.

Asking $32,500 on eBay and has been for sale previously in other venues.

In my humble opinion, that is one ugly car. 😕

Customs are so tough—especially ones that are so far out. A few age well (Cadzilla comes to mind) but most don't. I posted about Golden Piranha because it is a relatively well-known third-party Riviera custom.

I'll bet the "1968 Buick Riveria" would get more attention if he spelled Riviera correctly. I would think most people looking for a specific car would enter the model.  I couldn't find it in a "Riviera" search. cjp69 must have been searching for Buick.

I did once get a pretty good deal on some marine exhaust manifolds for a Merc 7.4 on ebay I believe because of a spelling mistake and no reserve.
