This one sold at RM Sotheby's in Sept 2020 for $72,600.  Very nice car, was owned / restored by ROA member Debra Powless from IL.

She told me about the restoration process on this one. No expense spared. Top dollar all the way.

Hello everyone, I'm posting this vehicle for a good friend. EVERYTHING is original. All original miles. He is the third owner of the vehicle second owner was his father-in-law and the first owner was the original owner of the car. It hasn't seen bad weather in the last 25 years always garage kept. He has done regular maintenance to keep the car running. Only thing that's not original is the paint. The power windows are all working condition no mechanical issues turn right on. Pictures cannot justify the beauty of this car, only has to be seen in person to appreciate it. He is getting very old and is ready to pass it on to the next person to appreciate and value this car. He is located in Mission Viejo and I could set up anytime you are willing to come see it. You will be in contact with me until you are ready to go see the car.

ME Likey!!

I am VERY familiar with this car. My friend purchased this through an auction house in Chicago on Ebay about 12 or 15 years ago. I stayed at his farm in Vermont for a week before the ROA meet in Gettysburg a few years back and I had a chance to thoroughly inspect the car as he wanted me to buy it. I passed on the opportunity because although I believe this car was a very well kept original GS there was obviously some rust repair which was performed before repaint and that repair was starting to show through. If you look closely at the pics there are some non original generic moldings which have been placed around the body....or at least there was when I looked at it. The car was originally white, the dual quads were added. If this was an original SCO paint dual quad car I would have had it on a Uhaul trailer in Gettysburg. My friend sold this car and a `62 Tbird convert to a dealer in Vermont who I believe is running it through Mecum.

Sadly, my friend passed away a few months after my stay but thankfully I was able to spend some quality time with him on the farm. He was a very unique person who led an unusual life, and could weave a tale of it, over the course of a few too many whiskies, that was fascinating. My frequent chats with him are sorely missed.

Tom, looks like the car has an "MZ" code now.  That is one of the worst looking stampings I have seen.

Wow...that`s a damn shame. I`m quite sure about the pedigree of this car...you can even see the original "W" which is stamped to the far right of the "M".  If you bring up the pics of when the car was for sale by the dealer in Vermont there is a picture of the original single 4 barrel setup with air cleaner that was removed from the car. I`m seriously considering calling this dealer out and my guess would be the Vermont dealer, which is a large Ford dealer and active in the auction community, might be motivated to do so as well....just a damn shame...

Yeah, I spoke to one of the previous owners and he told me it was not an original MZ when I inquired about the vehicle.

Was that the dealer in Vermont?

That Z is WAY oversized also, hehehe.

Yea and it looks like the Z was done with a chisel! The seller should be notified. Maybe they know and don't care but its possible they're going by what the person they got it from told them but still shame on them for not properly vetting what is being represented as a very rare car.

This is exact reason I never wanted to post the original MZ stamp in a public forum as well as using careful judgement when sending it privately.

It's awful, but I agree with @JZRIV. So many of us want to share our hard-won knowledge, but there are unscrupulous folks who will use that data to make a car into something it isn't. I've personally seen this on other marques—it's most common when the change in one characteristic can cause an outsize change in value.

I'll keep this in mind as I continue to work on the Riviera Project. Perhaps a little less data and a few more warnings.

Man, these boats are flipping fast. That car was up for sale just a few years ago up north.

Hence the no AC.

Now she’s in Florida.

Well I guess one can drive her the two cool months out of the year in comfort. Not me.
