1973 Buick Riviera for sale $18900 OBO. This car is a survivor. Fantastic paint, motor, interior. All the original paperwork and everything works (except the clock). No rust and the chrome is in very good shape with no pitting and deep shine. Work done in the past 12 months: completely rebuilt OE carb, brakes, new tires, complete tune up with new wires, exhaust manifold gaskets on both sides and all fluids changed. Interior is immaculate except for one seam tear on driver's seat which is pictured. No cracks in dash or arm rest, headliner like new and original carpet that isn't faded or worn. Glass is in great shape. This car was optioned with AM/ FM, AC, block heater, rear defogger, speed alert, cruise control, rally wheels and custom trim package plus dual exhaust.

It would be nice but with the four that I have plus two drivers if I were to buy another one, I'd be looking for pall bearers and my wife would be holding an auction.

It does look like your signature is pretty long.  BUT, no boat tails, either past or present!

That dark blue 73 in post #881 above is sharp. It reminded me of a 72 in same color I saw in a junkyard when I was 18 in 1980. Even with the demolished front end, those lines were very attractive in that color and it made a lasting impression. The only thing I could find on it that fit my 67 was the chrome wheels. I found out a couple weeks later after locating a new squeaking sound that the boattail era wheels bolt up but rub the brake drums!

1971 buick rivera

condition: fair
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
paint color: yellow
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: coupe

1971 Buick Riviera with a 455 cubic inch V8 and an automatic transmission. Originally a bench car with a column shift, I had an interior out of a GS installed and the car is now a console shift. Floors were sanded down and painted when the interior was installed but the lower quarters and fenders are starting to rust. The transmission has been rebuilt and the engine just had a recent tune up. Original paint. No leaks or burning of any fluids! Power windows all work, stereo is a new original fit bluetooth system in the stock location with no cuts to the dash. A/C was converted to 134A and blows ice cold.

Too many projects, and this needs someone to restore it before the rust starts eating it away. I have THREE spare rear windows for it, as well as spare clocks and emblems and an extra set of heads and exhaust manifolds, as well as non original wheels and tires.
All emailed offers will be deleted because as much as you think an offer of $6,000 is "fair for the car", it in fact is not a fair offer, mostly because YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TIME TO ACTUALLY COME LOOK AT THE CAR BEFORE TELLING ME IT'S WORTH LESS! I get that people want to make an offer low enough that they can't lose but I am not desperate to sell and will only entertain fair offers.

This car has an interesting choice of options.  Power seats, power windows AND vents, Wonderbar AM radio with power antenna and It has the Guidematic auto headlight dimmer from what's visible in the pictures of the interior. But it does not have air condtioning.  Not that a/c would be needed in a northern climate but it has the radiator shroud that came on the air conditioned cars.  We can't see it but I wonder if it also has a thermostatic clutch fan.  No pictures of the data plate or the VIN along with the Engine Serial number or Production code numbers.  I also thought that the only yellow available in 1964 was a much more pale yellow - Sunburst Yellow.Real or pieced together?

Looks like a very nice car but I wonder if you can get along with a car that doesn't have air conditioning.  Are you personally familiar with the car?  The reason I ask is that you say the car is in Florida but it has Pennsylvania plates on it.  If it's actually a Pennsylvania car, you'd want to have someone go over it closely to see what, if any, rust repairs have been made to it.

Thanks Ed for your Response. I did see that it has Pennsylvania plates and I have asked to have a third party inspection and find out actually where the car is in Florida.  There are some red flags because it says it has Air even though it shows it does not.  Do you have a recommendation of  a classic car inspectors that are nationwide and do a good job of looking at classics?  Air would be a very positive on this car since it gets into the 100's here in Southern Idaho sometimes.  I really appreciate your expertise being that you own all years of the Model that I love and am looking for.  I am excited in finding a good Riv that I can drive daily in the summer months. Thanks again

Hi an welcome to the forum. I'm not a 1st gen expert but that looks like a nice straight car. Being from PA I know what the underside typically looks like and this car does not look like it is from PA. Much better. That's not to say there isn't any rust not shown but the underside looks awful clean to me. I always look at the rear most portion of frame and body underside by gas tank. Those areas would typically have heavy rust scale barnacles if ran for say 5-8 PA winters and this car look real nice.

If you need A/C, buy a car with a functioning A/c unit. Not worth the hassle adding either a factory or aftermarket A/C system. Lots of work and money. Easier to buy car with it already working. Also careful buying one that says "A/C not working just needs charged" Repairs can be very expensive to get a system working reliably.

In reference to the Claret Mist '54 that Chasingbuick (the newby) is wanting information on, here's a break down of the Fisher Body data plate

629 - Claret Mist

LL - Custom Saddle Vinyl

WXT -3T-4F-5W

W = EZI glass (tint) windshield only

X = power windows

T= power seat (driver's bucket only)

3T= rear arm rest (pretty rare)

4F= Remote mirror

5W= front seat belts w/ retractor

IF it would have been a a/c car, there would have been a code 2K on the data plate

As Jason says, if you want a car with air, find one that has it.  It's a real hassle adding aftermarket air, and a PITA to try and install a factory set up.

I have to agree with Jason.  If that is a native PA car, it wasn't used during the winter months.  The frame and floors look to be rust free.  Overall, I think it looks like a nice car.

I've posted this before but rather than find the old one and give it a TTT, I'm posting the new CL ad.  If anyone is looking for a 6th generation car - SHIP - here's one that's well worth what the new price is.  $3,950  OBO

That is a nice looking car and reasonably priced.  I like the two tone color combo.  The silver and gray works better than some of the others that were offered.

I got into some detail on this car with the seller. The lack of AC for me was a stopper but there were other things that didn't feel right. Can't put my finder on it/them. I did exchange multiple emails with the seller and, for me, decided not to puruse.

Thanks  Bdad for for your thoughts on the 64 Buick.  I agree with you on the seller. Something just doesn't seem right on this Buick plus he has been hard to get a hold of. It seems almost to good to be true for his asking price that he has agreed to sell to me.  The car looks really clean as well as the engine compartment, but the Air is also going to be a deal breaker for me. I am still waiting to hear back from him on when I can get the car inspected.

Thanks

1971 buick Riviera

fuel: gas
title status: clean
transmission: automatic

have up for sale is a vintage  red 1971 Buick Riviera. This is a numbers matching two owner car with a big block 455 engine and a turbo 400 transmission with only 63269 miles on it.  I bought this Riviera in August  of 2004 with 59654 miles on it. I have owned  this Riviera now for 14years and  I have only put on just over 3600 miles on it since I've  owned it. I have always kept it in the garage and it was only out for car shows or a weekend cruise. The chrome ( and there is a lot  of it ) is in great shape any shines nicely.  The vinyl roof is great shape as well with no tears or rips. All four wheels are the factory  Buick rims with one spare and they too are in good condition.  The interior is all black with a bit of factory woodgrain. The drivers seat has a seam about 4" undone. The clock  does not work and the gas guage is intermittent. The massive dash is perfect with no cracks or tears.  Since  I have owned this  car i have  had the  motor pulled to replace the factory gaskets the were going dry from age. While the gaskets were bieng changed and the motor was out  the timing chain, oil pump, plugs and wires were changed by the shop as well as having the factory  Rockchester carb rebuilt. A few changes  that I made were the stereo and the exhaust.  The factory am radio didnt work when i bought the car so a modern unit was installed along with 2 6X9's ...2 5 1/4's... 2 10" subs and three big amps to push the sound. When the speakers and subs were  put in, i made sure that everything  was easy to remove with a few screws so that if someone  wanted to go back to factory  it could be done easily....the new stereo is much better sounding.  I had the factory exhaust  taken off from the exhaust  manifold on back and it was upgraded  to a louder rumble with 24" slash cut chrome tips....everything  was welded  and custom bent for this car. I have also put in a set of guages so that you can see the oil pressure, coolant temp and volts rather than relying  on 1971 idiot lights. If you noticed the rearview  mirror is missing.... I have that. It fell off one day and I never put it back on. The drivers window  is scratched  and Im not sure how it happened. It was like that when I bought the car. This Riviera  starts right up and runs great with turbo 400 shifting smoothly. The paint is in good shape ... not great shape. It will shine  nicely . The body has a few small dents and scratches as to be expected  with a car that's  47 years old.

If you are interested  please don't  hesitate  to get a hold of me. I will take  more photos of anything on the car that you would like to see however,  I do not have a lift but i can try to jack the car up and photo what i can. I have only driven the car a few hundred miles in the past 7-8 years as other toys and hobbys are always going on.

The average price online weather it be on high end auctions or collector car dealers is $13,100. I have seen similar cars  that people are wanting nearly $30,000.  I am asking $13000 OBO. I am not looking to trade and don't  need help selling the car.

Please look at all the photos. I tried to get good pucs of all the car.
