cjp69
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/d/fallbrook-1963-buick-riviera-2owner-ca/7721368100.html 1963 Buick Riviera 2owner Ca. Car Original Leather RARE Turbine Wheels - $31,900 (fallbrook) © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap 1963 Buick Riviera condition: excellent cylinders: 8 cylinders drive: rwd fuel: gas odometer: 15300 paint color: black title status: clean transmission: automatic I will NOT reply to "do you still have it". If the ad is running, I still have the car. This California, 1963 Buick Riviera is powered by the original 401cid/425 6.6-liter nailhead Buick engine with the original rebuilt Twin Turbine Dynaflow automatic transmission. The car is its original black with one repaint. Exposing the car to bare metal indicated there was never any body damage. This Riviera has the original red leather interior and is in exceptional condition (no tears or cracks). This is a 2-owner California car, I have owned this car 11 years. The sale includes the original bill of sale from the dealer, original black California plates, and pink slip and has a clean title. Equipment includes real “turbine” Buick wheels offered exclusively to Riviera, rare and prized by collectors today. Power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, remote trunk opener, power windows and power seat, remote adjustable outside mirror, Buick console mounted tachometer, original Sonomatic radio and power antenna. Note the rare Buick rocker trim molding that is in exceptional condition (well over 1K if you can find them). Original Buick floor mats. Speed-minder option for the speedometer. Speedometer shows a bit over 15,000 miles however actual mileage is probably around 25k to 35k knowing the history of this car. I have only driven it 1100 miles in 11 years. I have the original owner’s manual and dealer bill of sale. New Cooper tires with about 150 miles on them. As much as I enjoy this car, I do not drive it much. As I look at the date on my driver's license, it is time to let it go to someone who can enjoy it. The Riviera has been a very reliable driver. Anything needed has been tended to. The car has never had any rust or body damage and when it was professionally painted, it was taken down to bare metal of which I have photos. Would I dare drive it from coast to coast…I would. The speedometer cable was making noise and I had it replaced, now it works intermittently. The power antenna is obstinate however the motor works. Springs and shocks are new. All chrome is fresh and extremely well done. All the power windows work well, and the glass is excellent. Transmission gone through about 400 miles ago. No cracks, tears or damage in the leather seats or dashboard. The original steering wheel is exceptionally nice. This Riviera has the factory optional dual trumpet horns that I removed to paint but never got around to it, they are included with the car. Most Riviera glove box doors are bent on the left side from forcing it open, note this one is perfect. RivNut
For a non air car with the “rare” cast covers and 65 rocker moldings this guy has some gall to ask what he’s asking. Especially if he doesn’t know which motor it has - “401/425”. He could have at least painted the engine the correct color and found a decal for the air cleaner. gungeey
7 hours ago, powerage said: Black with red leather.. tach.. turbines.. that is a really cool one there I agree. I've been fortunate to own a couple San Diego cars. Both true "rust free". Neither came with A/C. The climate there is dry with comfortable temps year round. No big deal. A/C is no longer a must have for me in these cars anyway. Offers potential big hassle and expense with very little benefit. The one or two days a year when it's 90 and muggy I'm driving a new car with air conditioned seats anyway. Crank windows, now obsolete for a generation, offer a real wow factor for the grandkids. Besides, the weather is obvious on a given day. Put the windows up or down as the choke is setting. Simple enough. Power seat, too. No need. These cars are not generally shared by several family members like a daily driver. At least here it's just me. Shove the seat all the way back and never have to deal with it again. (Though I'm not one of the "portly" elderly owners that can benefit from that two or three inches of tilt the power seat offers. I don't have the built in king size kangaroo pouch to deal with that some bigger folks might.😆). Regarding the 401/425 reference, I believe it was nothing more than a typo meant to say "401/445". Engine color..I seem to remember years ago the old guard from the riviera club made reference to 63s with engines painted other than the silver. Nothing ever came of it, though. As far as the cost: That guy. This guy. The other guy. Any guy can put any price on their car for sale they want. What they think it's worth, what they might get for it, what their wish list selling price might be, what their wife might say they have to sell it for.. or just blowing stupid numbers out of a cannon. I don't think that price is so far out of line with all the other inflated price cars I see for sale these days. A ready buyer with limited mechanical skills might be readily willing to pay the premium if the paint work is just so very nice, the undercarriage is abnormally corrosion free, there's receipts for transmision work, engine work front end work, the car drives like a dream..etc etc etc. Having this hobby in Mass has taught me to deplore rust. I place a lot of value on true rust free cars. A real lot. Right behind that is finding a car that deviates from original as little as possible. Particularly electrical hacks. Those are deal breakers. I could live with those rocker panels, but only if under them is rock solid sheet metal. With an in person visit, I think one would find that Black on Red to be a very desirable car.

Seller appears to be an older gentleman that sees value in it being only a 2-Owner Riviera that spent it's life in a good climate. The only fault, yes no AC. So, Would've been nice to have posted the Dealer invoice which he claims to have to prove it's a local car. I question the low mileage, prove it. Also, the dashpad doesn't have a "crisp" appearance to it. Re-covered? Reference to 401/425 might be a typo. Perhaps 401/445? After witnessing no-reserve Barrett-Jackson transactions, this one is not out-of-line. But without AC, my offer would be considerably below his asking price. 1965 Ribbed rocker moldings? I can't tell with the thumbnails posted. A big mistake if he really wants to sell. Maybe his wife is twisting his arm to sell? RivNut
Mon O man. What ever happened to the good old days. In 2004, I bought a 1984 Riviera, V8, blue with a vinyl top for $850. Drove it 200 miles to home. Put a Maaco paint job on it and drove it for 5 years before selling it. New tires in time along with new shocks. Otherwise just gas and oil. Drove it to ROA meets in Galena, IL, Harrisburg, PA, and Lake of the Ozarks,MO.

Mike, If you are referring to the Riviera in the Hemmings ad from Bend, OR, with all due respect, it is a 1969 model. It has a 1969 grille, 1969 rear bumper, 1969 rear side marker lamps and a 1969 interior. The sixth digit, 9, in the VIN indicates 1969. RivNut
Some time ago I started collecting OE air conditioning parts for my 1963 Riviera. The on it had not worked in the last couple of years I had it. I then bought a 1964 Riviera to drive. It too needed the a/c fixed so I gathered more parts. I’m now installing a Vintage Air unit in the ‘64 and I’ve set aside one each of the parts that I think that I might need when I get around to the ‘63. Therefore I have what I consider a few good parts that I won’t need. I’ll gladly give pieces to anyone who might need them for his car. All you’ll need to do is cover $$ for shipping and a couple of bucks for packing materials. PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST PARTS TO RESELL ON EBAY ETC. That would not be kosher. These parts are for you to fit to your car. Here are some pictures of what I have. Ask if you don’t see what you’re looking for. These parts are takin up,room in the garage. I may have more parts downstairs or in the shed. The evaporator box shows some surface rust but the insulation is good on the interior walls. sorry that I didn’t lay this stuff out as neatly as Kreed did.
