If that is the case Tuesday around noon many of the vendors are open for business! Tuesday night at the AACA Library starting at 4 PM is a sale of a LOT of excess literature at great prices. Monday you could visit the AACA Museum and beat the crowd, plus the Hershey Museum, got to Harrisburg and visit the Civil War Museum, etc. Lots to do in this area. 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

NYC, Washington DC, Philly and Baltimore are easy day trips as well, all being 3 hours or so away. What are your interest other than old cars? Akstraw Posted August 25, 2016 Share Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Cars guys would like tha AACA museum; a must see. For non-car stuff, there is an outlet mall, and the Hershey chocolate center. Not too far away is Pennsylvania Dutch county and the Gettysburg battlefield. For more car stuff, travel a little further east to Allentown for the America on Wheels Museum. and to Bethlehem for the brand new Museum Of American Industry (close to the Sands casino, if you are a gambler). If you want a challenge while in Bethlehem, stop by Lehigh University and find the James Ward Packard Laboratory building, home of the mechanical engineering department. They have one of the very first Packard automobiles on display in the lobby. Go the other way (west from Hershey) and you can stop by the Rolls Royce Owners Club HQ and museum in Mechanicsburg, but they have limited hours/dates, so check in advance. Of course the AACA research library is a good stop if you are interested in digging into some trivia on a particular make and model. Have a great trip! It's not a far drive and has a neat collection with a "made in Pa" theme. I haven't been there for 15 years myself, but you would see things there that you won't find elsewhere. Heading in the other direction a little farther ishttp://www.swigartmuseum.com/ If you hit up AACA and Swigart you'll probably see more Tuckers in one day than any other day in your life. AACA has an awesome Tucker exhibit, and Swigart has two more cars, including the surviving prototype 1947 model as well as a nice early collections of cars an a pleasant drive though central pa. There is one long set of steps down towards the motorcycle area as I recall or maybe it is to the entire basement display area, but I believe they have an elevator if needed. Maybe someone else can verify the elevator. The Gettysburg battlefield is also easy on the body. Stop at the visitation center and pick up a map of the battlefield, then you can drive the roads on the battlefield and stop to check out the historic sights as desired. I was very tempted to engage in some gastronomic one-upmanship and mention tripe tacos and hog chitt'lin's (Sandy and I once pan fried crisp some of the previous day's delicious guts and made a low hog version of a BLT - a CLT ?) , but I think I will resist said temptation. Then you can have a "Big Smokie" Carlisle goes on from Wednesday thru Sunday. See the Museum on Monday and Tuesday and start hoofing again in Hershey! All car events of course!
