bob duffer
Is the oil cap on the engine supposed to fit tight or loose? I have a gasket on it but it is not air tight . 1934 Buick model 57 Thanks
FLYER15015
Bob, If yours is like mine, it has a flat "spring" across the bottom that cams into slots on the valve cover. Mine is just "snug" when closed, and yes it weeps a bit of oil when on a long cruise. The only way to tighten them up is to increase the thickness of the gasket. Guest outlaw car man
I think they fit snug not air tight, at least mine do. Not loose but snug. Edited August 21, 2016 by outlaw car man spelling (see edit history)
Marty Roth
When I made a new thicker cork gasket , it stayed pretty tight, and there was no leakage or discoloration
