Ignition switch, chrome cover

So I bought a replacement ignition switch, which installs fine, except I see the chrome cover on the new switch is a lot smaller in diameter than the original style. It leaves a very noticeable gap on the dash. Pretty ugly.

Seems I should be able to pry off the chrome cap on the switch and use the old one. But it doesn't want to come off easily and I don't watch to damage it.

Any tips?

I bought one for my 64 Riviera just recently and noticed the exact same thing. Like you I also thought about prying off the original to replace the new one. I haven't done anything yet so I'm no help to you. Just thought you'd feel better knowing it's not just you:lol:.

One thing I'd also like to know is if it's possible to match the new door locks I bought with the ignition. You can't buy all three with a matched key which is annoying.

Any competent locksmith should be able to re-key all three cylinders to match.
