That's a 1964.  If the KX code he's referencing is the engine code, then it's a 1964 Super Wildcat engine. (Hopefully the license plate is accurate.)   Some one has installed an after market grill in this car.  Look at the tail lights, the side scallops, the seat stitching, placement of the trunk emble,  the dash.....  All 1964.  Still a nice car.

Bad part about this Riviera sickness, is that now that I finally have a 65 after wanting one since childhood, I want a nice 64 to go with it. Probably just a dream right now, but you never know.

Oh -- it gets worse.  Once you have your 1st gen collection of 63 - 65 completed that sexy boat tail or sassy 2nd gen will catch your eye!  Next thing you know, you're living in a van down by the river...

I was there man!

I talked with the owner of this 64, cool guy with wit. The black paint had enormous depth that the pictures can't translate, the gloss was mesmerizing. He said it was a true 2-4 barrel car kx code.

He had a kph speedo lens installed (0-200), nice touch.

Very clean, one of three rivs I saw over two days. One 65 and two 64s.

LOL.....my love has always been the `65 model but I caught the 2nd gen fever a few annual meets ago. I was having lunch looking out the restaurant window at a `65 and `66 parked next to each other. The a pillar treatment, lack of vent windows and longer, wider stance of the `66 made the `65 look like an outdated model. I still love the first gen models for their interior design and more intriguing details but the `66 model truly looks like a design that was little changed from styling studio to actual car.

Tom, I'm with ya on that -- the '66/'67 body with more of the 1st gen interior styling queues (stainless, console, etc.) would be cool.  Keep the 2nd gen deluxe door panels, though!

Tom and EmTee,

this forum is a real worry. You buy a 63 Riviera thinking you have the car you always wanted, then you start looking at posts on 2nd generation Rivieras, then you start looking at them very closely and ......

was hoping Jo might want to get out of her 2006 Suzuki Swift and try this one. It's for sale here ( Australia) and looks neat in this colour ( if original).

She likes the size and zippy driving of the Suzuki, if only we could we convince her this one would also be nippy, easy to park and get great gas mileage.........

Ahhh -- lovely, right?  Of course I'm particularly partial to the 2nd gen, but I like the 1st gen and boat tails too (despite the fact that I hated the '71 when it first came out).  I guess my tastes have evolved over the years...

Gas is still hovering around $2 a gallon here in NY and you can spin the steering wheel with one finger, so as long as you're able to find a 25-foot piece of open curbing, parallel parking isn't a big deal.  Besides, when was the last time anyone ever looked twice at a Suzuki...?  -Tim
