70sWagoneers
I'm working on a 1935 Detroit Electric. Im having trouble installing the head lamp lenses. They are Stabilite lamps. The car came to me with flat glass substitutes. I sourced some new Stabilite lenses from oldcarlenses.com. So I cannot figure out how you get the lenses in there! They are the bullet style that have no trim rings like a 35-36 Auburn. There is NO screw on the bottom that controls the reflector. The reflector that presses the lens outward against the inside of the lamp is spring loaded all the way around but it only gives maybe a half inch at most. The lamp opening is about 9-1/8". The lenses are about 9-1/8+" wide and 9-1/4" tall. My best theory so far involves squeezing the lamp housing oblong to slide the 9-1/4" length in and then rotate the rest of the lens in. If you have any advice, anyone you could direct me to, or any manual references I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. James Cowart
