Airy Cat
It's time for my '55 Special to get new spark plugs. It now has AC44 plugs and I'm thinking of using Auto Lite 175 plugs. The car has the Century equipment (4 bbl) and Pertronix ignition and runs very well. Would the Auto Lite be a better plug than the AC?
Beemon
You can't get AC 44 over the counter anymore and the AC R43S are trash. I used NGK 5858 and have had no complaints. I haven't tried Autolite plugs, but I have heard of them breaking on removal...
old-tank
Autolite 85 plugs work well in mine for 30,000 miles.
KAD36
Have used NGK B-4 and Autolite 85. The Autolites were a lower cost.
Airy Cat
I bought a set of Autolite #175. I'm going to go with those.
NTX5467
("Autolite #175" . . . didn't find that number in the Autolite online catalog or RockAuto, but found the "85" part number. Might the #175 be a part number for a multiple number of spark plugs with another part number on their individual packaging?) Just curious. Probably meant #75 which is the non-resistor version of the #85. I used those too before they got too scarce and more expensive and because non-resistor plugs are not compatible with the cruise control that I added. Airy Cat
The Autolite 175 id the same as the 75 except that it has a heavier electrode. I found them on ebay, $25,
