michel88
I always respected Raymond Loewy because of his (I think) design of the 53 Studebaker Starlight coupe. I wonder if he had other designer's with good taste doing the design and then for him taking credit for the car. That Jaguar design is just plain ugly! alsancle
I don't know that I have ever seen a design that Ray Dietrich did that didn't look great. Most stuff that Gordon Burehrig touched (minus the Tasco) also. But I don't feel the same way about Raymond Loewy, The point I saw in another thread that the cars he customized for himself were butt ugly is true. 1912Staver
The Jag looked better than the Lancia, but neither are to my taste. Greg in Canada

Restorer32
I don't see any Jag influence but I do see a lot of Studebaker in it. My guess is that Barris started the fire out of embarrassment.
Guest Skyking
The fire certainly did this car justice! Glad they only made one!
john2dameron
The most believable story I have heard on the '53 Studebaker is that Robert Bourke (I hope I spelled that right) did the design but he was working for Loewy and Loewy took the credit. michel88
That makes sense that Robert Bourke did the design of the '53 Studebaker and Loewy took the credit. Bourke had a lot to do with the '49 Ford design that was very good looking.
