Guest PetePontiac
How do you remove the musty smell from upholstery material. "HELP "
61polara
Set it out in the hot sun all day with the windows down. Store it with a couple of boxes of baking soda with the tops cut off when you store it inside. The sun will do more than the baking soda.
alsancle
Does it help to store it with the windows down? It is the mohair & upholstered cars where this is a real problem. I have not seen it with leather interior cars.
Matt Harwood
I put dryer sheets in my cars when I store them for the winter. It's mostly to keep vermin away without the mothball smell (although now you've got dryer sheet smell) but I wonder if it would also absorb some of this odor. Probably a combination of getting it dried out and then absorb the smell. There are charcoal canisters that you can buy that are designed to absorb smells and while not hugely effective, they have knocked the edge off in certain cars where they've been sitting for a long time. Probably a combination of techniques--dry, absorb, cover--will get you best results.
trimacar
If the smell is in the foam rubber, you'll have a hard, if not impossible, time getting it out. I've taken some early foam rubber seats apart, and the stench is awful, it's the deteriorating and/or moldy foam.....yikes... Hope you have success...
