keiser31
Looks like a 1930 DeSoto to me. This one has added fender mounted lights. Edited June 26, 2016 by keiser31 (see edit history)
F&J
I looked at it earlier today, and my first thought was late Whippet...not sure of the year, but a friend has a cut-down buggy with that radiator shape. I think he said 1930? Keiser, take a look at the size of headlights which seem very large compared to the size of the radiator....and look at the straight headlight bar between the lights; not curved like DeSoto's Also note the size of rad emblem and bumper center emblem.....and it seems to have blind rear quarters without the last window like Mopar? I have not web searched to see if it might be Whippet though.
Guest Gyrodoc
F&Jim, I thought a Whippet also, but I thought a Whippet was a smaller car. Just hard to tell. Thanks everyone for the help.
Dave Mellor NJ
This 30 Whippet does have large headlights and the grille looks closer. The DeSoto grille looks a little higher The bumper clamp seems to match and the fenders look closer on the openings Edited June 27, 2016 by Dave Mellor NJ (see edit history)
nzcarnerd
1929 Chrysler 65. I think mostly the same car as the Plymouth and DeSoto but with slight differences; eg rubber suspension mounts, bigger headlights, and almost the last use of the seven main bearing six, whereas the DeSoto was the first to use the new four bearing six.. Guest Gyrodoc
I agree I think it is a Whippet. Thanks
Dave Henderson
I too considered the Whippit, the DeSoto and Chrysler. With the radiator shell's general shape many marques can be ruled out, so what remains? It looks a bit "runty" as Whippits were, so if I HAD to pick one I'd go with Whippit. Guest Al Brass
To me, it's more Whippet than anything. Al
