NOT MINE Thought someone might be looking for this part .

Could it be used to stretch fabric ? ?

I put it also for sale in the Buy and Sell section http://www.kijiji.ca/v-hand-tool/trenton-on/small-vintage-steel-1920s-wing-nut-clamp-from-general-motors/1159358661?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

I'm not sure how long dad had it, but about twenty-five years ago he started using it a lot, like a rediscovered tool.  He would clamp the pivot in a bench vise when he wanted to hold something horizontal rather than vertical.  You don't NEED it but it can make thing a bit more comfortable.  I have no idea if that was the original intent, but that is how I use it.  I just did a search on "model maker's vise" and there was an image of one, calling it a hand vise.  Search hand vise and you get more.  I'm finding multiple vendors have them, but don't really know what they are.  This link may be the most informative, for holding small items and hand work.   http://www.leevalley.com/US/Wood/page.aspx?p=72081&cat=1,41659
