In my hometown of Bloomington, Il, in the 40's-50's there was this lady that walked the streets looking down for penny's. We all laughed and called her PENNY ANNIE, well when she died they found hoards of money throughout her house, even stuffed in the bag of a broken vac. rodneybeauchamp Posted January 1, 2017 Share Posted January 1, 2017 IMO the art of tasteful customising has always been to use something that is not really obvious where it originates from in a place that looks like the manufacturer meant it to go. RivNut Posted January 4, 2017 Share Posted January 4, 2017 The Jan/Feb issue of the ROA's Riview is now out and in it is a six page article on the VIlla Riviera. It covers the car as originally built, changes made for the movie For those who think young (it was repainted white for the movie,) and the restoration back to its original state by ROA member Jeff Goldstein. If you were at the ROA meet in Colonial Williamsburg, VA this past summer you were lucky enough to be able to get up close and personal with the car and talk at length with Jeff. Jeff made a really great picture presentation to the members on Wednesday evening of everything about the car and what he went through to restore it. VillaRiviera Posted January 13, 2017 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Pete, I've not had any passengers ride in the backseat to confirm the wind situation. But, in the recent Review on page 16 there's a small photo of James Darren and Pamela Tiffen in the back seat of the Villa Riviera, Pamela doesn't look too happy and I'd bet the reason could be wind messed up her hair! That photo was taken on the way to a movie theatre as Barris coordinated driving the stars to movie theatres opening nights to meet fans and sign autographs with the Villa Riviera parked in front of the theatre. Imagine the thrill of seeing the movie, meeting the stars and then seeing the car parked in front of the theatre! There is a removable top with the car and it fits quite snuggly it was made from the original roof section. Pins were welded to secure the rear section under the stainless valence. In front, the top is held down with convertible top type latches. Thanks to everyone for the comments and kind words and especially to Ray for assigning space in the Review to describe the car and share it's history with the ROA.
