oil consumption

Recommended Posts

I thank you,Albert for answering my question. My exhaust is blue. What does that mean? If its black what does that mean? There is carbon on all the plugs not just one.I am quite sure that I am not losing oil.I use the champion H12 spark plug which I am told is the right one.I cant do a compression test until spring when it gets warmer out. If you have any more ideas I would appreciate them. Thanks
Jim Lawrence
PS I am very curious about the meaning of the different colors of the exhaust smoke.

-If the exaust is black and foul smelling it is caused by too rich a mixture.
-blue to white engine is burning oil, (or water, coolent)
-if the spark plugs are black and gummy deposit is excess oil
- if the plugs are blackened but fluffy deposit is a rich mixture.

HEY throw away those champions and get RA45's or equivelent and reset plugs to .032
or +.007 from the setting required for your H-12's
Then index each plug so the electrodes face the combustion chamber.
BILL UHOUSE
