Packard Locking Trunk Handles??????

Recommended Posts

I have 2 trunk handles that may be for Packards.

1. This handle is real nice, (maybe NOS), with the original key. The Briggs & Stratton key code is P1290, which should be for a Packard.post-94407-0-34374200-1455162062_thumb.jpost-94407-0-52296800-1455162082_thumb.jpost-94407-0-34234600-1455162094_thumb.j

2. The small locking lever handle has a new key and looks nice and functions as it should.

it has a tag on it that reads, "1948 Packard deck". post-94407-0-81136000-1455162449_thumb.jpost-94407-0-52296800-1455162082_thumb.jpost-94407-0-34234600-1455162094_thumb.j

Can anyone help identify the application for these handles?

Did 1940 use a t-handle? I thought the last year for it was 1939 and that 1940 moved to the vertical handle with the license plate holder and light built-in, or did certain body styles maintain the older t-handle handle? In any event, the one here does not look Packard to me.

Yep. 1940 used the T-handle if equipped with a luggage rack. As mentioned, tho, the escutcheon was different than what you see above.
